(Rimpoche only started talking at 0:00:11.0), before [0:00:11.0] was Dutch translation of the previous sentence.

And then she asked him, the grandmother asked him, “why did you do that?” And then he says “why you talking to him all the time?” *Audience laughs* Can you believe it? This is a valid how the intent of jealousy, intent of affection, how it carries over. Whether you believe it or not, that’s reality. *Audience laughs* they brought the reality to complete all….? you better go and have lunch. Its 10 minutes little bit early but that’s okay. [0:01:01.4 to 0:01:08.3]

Rimpoche: Oh you have one question, okay.

Audience: Why is reincarnation so important if on the other hand you say it’s better to let go of the past?

Rimpoche: Very good question. I don’t know the answer. But I don’t think I’ve said reincarnation is important. Urhm but we’re talking if there is reincarnation or not. On the other hand, reincarnation is also applicable for future life too. So it might be little important as well. *Rimpoche laughs out loud* Thank you. So let’s go for eat lunch and come back and I really wanted to work with you just found this morning a little piece of urhmm appraise for Tara and it’s talking about age/its [0:02:54.9] difference in emotions. So I want to do that when you come back. And so that’s going to be what we going to do at 2 o’clock we come back. 2 to 5, right? With some kind of break in between both. Couple of minutes. [0:03:12.3]

(recording distrupted from 0:03:26.7 to 0:03:34.4 with only some noise and mildy audible sound)

Starting at 0:03:35.1 Everybody is now really lost and they are all here. Maybe there’s not enough ….?? (unclear ) [0:03:46.0] So since you’ve been chanting ‘Om Tare Tutare Ture Soha..’ (Rimpoche said a mantra which I couldnt catch in full) [0:03:52.0 to 0:03:59.0], actually this is one of the great mantra ‘Om Tara Tu Tare….’ [0:04:10.0] , It’s a great mantra, really. Last time when I was here did workshop urhm you people are are so quick you done that already here in some kind of booklet form. Really very nice.

Very good. This is very useful to work with your emotions. You know why? Very simple. That ‘OM TARE TUTATRE SUVHA’ (please recheck if this is right) [0:05:03.5] That 4 little word mantra is simply 4 Noble Truth??? [0:05:12.4] How many people know about the 4 Noble Truth and how many don’t know? I don’t know how do I go about this. Urhm should I make confuse or what? Alright. How many people are not familiar with 4 Noble Truth? Let me do the other way. How many of you are familiar? Its easier to raise hand that way. How many of you are familiar with 4 Noble Truth?

Rimpoche: Less than 50%. So basically if I don’t talk to you little bit about 4 Noble Truth, it will be failure for me [0:06:11.4]

Because this is our life. Why they call it noble because it is dealing with life and dealing. That’s why it’s called noble. Urhm, first the First Noble Truth, the truth of suffering. We all have that. That’s what we’ve been talking earlier. Mental, physical, emotional pains are there. True reality. The first noble truth. You know why? Buddha discovered that Buddha was given a very funny artificial life and he was always wondering what’s behind that. So whenever he has the opportunity to explore and going outside the artificial life, the first thing what he encountered was the sickness, death and what else? (Someone in the audience said aging) Aging! Thank you. So these are what he had encountered and also known that he himself will be subject of that. And that’s why it’s called the First Truth. It is First Truth. This is what we have. You know I go round, I went round the world this time, virtually. I see so many people, I see their face and each and everybody will put up nice face but behind the nice face, behind that nice put up, you see pain. You see suffering, you see dissatisfaction. Some have very heavy, some have little less, some peoples are sufferings are can’t be helped, some just tortures themselves. But, in totally, you see in the faces of everybody. Whether you go to the East or the West, South East Asia, wherever you go. [0:09:35.0]

And everybody is seeking a solution for that, something to be able to work. A solution. Everybody! In Malaysia one night, I gave one initiation and there’s overall one thousand people. And they came one by one and saw me. And you look in their face and you can see it. There’s the pain the type they cannot get rid of. That’s why they came, they don’t meditate. They don’t. They just get something to hit on your head and then go. So they think that’s the solution. And then I was telling Alfred and You?? (to confirm the 2 names of individuals Rimpoche mentioned) [0:11:20.0] this morning right? [0:11:20.5]

And I went to India. In India, you know one old friend of mine urhmm, a lady who allowed me to stay in her house for number of years without any rent. For years together, a huge building on the ring road, I think Alfred’s been in that building. It’s a huge building. You know I mean huge! Its all noble house?? (please recheck accuracy of this phrase) [0:11:58.6], a huge one that allow me to stay number of years in that. So I saw her and I was intent not to see her because its little complicated. So I was not try to see her few days. So I have another friend so I was going to go dinner to their place. That’s the place what I mentioned this morning with little kid. So when I’m going there, she walked by and try to find out when I’m getting there, she heard that I’m coming also so she went there to find out when I’m getting there. So I had to see her there. Okay. *Audience laughs* And as result of that, she had so many relationships and friends and all these. As a result of that she wants me to have a few of her friends to meet and try to help. So then we decided to meet them after lunch. Because I’m there only 2 days. The last day when I was leaving actually. So we decided to meet after lunch. [0:14:14.1]

We had lunch with her family. They own big hotel called Imperial Hotel downtown in Delhi and that kind of place. (kindly recheck this phrase) [0:14:15.1 to 0:14:15.1] So after lunch, then lunch was on the lawn outside. So after lunch they put another chair there so then these people came one by one talk to me. And that looks so funny, you know in a big hotel in the lounge and everybody’s coming there talk to you and there’s bring some money and put it there and then talk to me. Everybody is suffering. They have some problem which really not big problem. The biggest majority of them saying that “my daughter is on the marriageable age and please get her married” *Rimpoche and audience burst into laughter*

One elderly lady was kneel down holding my feet and not letting me go. *Audience laugh* and saying that one of her daughter or son who gone sort of mentally crazy earlier so she said she brought to me 10 years ago so whatever happens she got better – that’s what she told me. Now she wants build a 13-storey building. *Rimpoche laughs* And she said “I’m not getting permission from government so please let me have the permission.” *Audience and Rimpoche laughs* No matter whatever I do, she’s not letting me go. I said alright, so if you build that 13-storey building, give me one flat. *Audience laughs* She said very happy to do it, she let me go then! *Rimpoche and audience laughs* So these are the unnecessary problems they give themselves. [0:17:15.6]

But some are really sick and they have difficulties. So the suffering whatever it might be, physical, mental, emotional, financial. Everything is the true reality. Okay. Now for us, to build a 13-storey multi-storey flat is not a suffering. And for them, it is big suffering! You know what she really told me? She said the food she couldn’t taste (please recheck this word Rimpoche said) [0:18:09.3] for 5 or 10 years. And so she said she had send lot of fax to me from India and I don’t know. I’ve not seen fax but.. She said when she said she eat food she said food has no taste and she goes to sleep she can’t sleep because she can’t build the building! *Rimpoche laughs* So that’s how the suffering people take in. Of cos she’s in tears, she cried. So this is the reality. And for her, it is big torture.

So, same thing. Different people have different sufferings but in reality, it is suffering. And that is the first Noble truth. Now can you see it? Huh? Purpose of introducing this is not to be afraid but to recognize. Now, the second question what Buddha dealt with it is “Can I get away from it?” Is there way out? Or am I stuck? So the answer is there is way out! That’s what Buddha sharing. There is way out. And how’s the way out works? So the Buddha says “deal with cause”. [0:20:43.0]

Okay. What are the causes? Karmic cause the karma. Okay. How many people know about karma? Now people know karma then 4 Noble Truth. Okay. There are some people thinks when it is karma, you can do nothing. That’s not true! That’s absolutely false! You know why? You don’t, right? I do know why. I better tell you. *Rimpoche chuckles, crowd laughs* What did you say? (Rimpoche asked the translator because the crowd laughed out really loud after the translator translated the last sentence) *Crowd laughed out loud after Rimpoche asked the translator* You know karma is a dependent arise. Karma is not some kind of fixed, unchangeable, *Rimpoche pauses for 5 seconds* [0:22:07.2 to 0:22:11.9] you know its not something fixed, unchangeable structure. Karma depends on the condition. Without condition, karma will not be able to function. And all saw karma is impermanent, its not permanent. It is impermanent. It is changeable. You can purify. The good karmas can grow bigger, the bad karmas can grow bigger, the good karmas can disappear, the bad karmas can disappear. Because it is impermanent, because its dependent arise, karma doesn’t have heavy cushion on you?? (please recheck, audio unclear) [0:23:19.3 to 0:23:24.2] [0:23:24.2]

So Buddha says karmic cause and the delusion cause. You know, the sufferings are mostly coming from delusion cause. The delusion cause is the worst problem for us than karma. Karma we create, it is in our control. The delusion is not in our control. We are almost under the control of delusion! So you know anger controls us! Attachment controls us! Jealous controls us! We don’t control them! So when you struggle, we cry, we fight and we struggle! That’s why because we don’t control them, they try to control us! We try to be independent, we struggle! And between that, people cry all the time. So the second truth is truth of cause. So the way out of the suffering is dealing with the truth of cause. So the cause of the suffering is negative emotions. And dealing with that is the true reality of Buddha’s Second Noble Truth. Did you get it? That’s why I’m saying this is very spiritual, though we try to give you non-religion oriented, however it is very much in the spiritual Buddhist oriented. So when you don’t want Buddha said when you don’t want the suffering, try not to have the cause of suffering. This is the way you get out. [0:26:37.6]

Right? If you have like in a river valley project or some kind of huge dam build up, and you collect all the waters from one direction put it down there, its become huge lake. Right? But if the water’s no longer coming from the top somewhere from the mountains, the dam’s going to die.

Translator whispered to Rimpoche: dam is going die??

Rimpoche: Ya, the water dam. Its going to dry. Water going to finish.

So when you look at the suffering, it looks tremendously overwhelming, it looks like a huge lake! And when you stop the water coming from the beginning whatever, from the source, no matter how big the lake is, its going to go! So there is always way out. That’s why Buddha put this as the Second Noble Truth. And the way and the how you deal with this negative emotions is what I have been talking this morning exactly. Which all saw is the path, which is the Fourth Noble Truth, how you deal with the negative emotions. So naturally, result of that is the Third Truth. So the Fourth Noble Truth is absolutely very much relevant in our life. Suffering is part of life and cause of the suffering will make sure suffering will continue. [0:29:10.9]

And working against the cause of suffering is the Fourth Noble Truth, which will deliver the freedom. And that is cessation. That is Third Noble Truth. So the Buddha’s 4 Noble Truth is whether you Buddhist or not Buddhist, it is absolutely relevant in our life. Okay. The purpose of the First Noble Truth is to recognize and acknowledge, rather than be afraid of it. The purpose of the second noble truth is to work with it. And the way and how you work will become the Fourth Noble Truth. And the purpose of that is to make sure you get freedom which is Third Truth. Are you with me now? You have a problem with that? If you don’t have a problem with this, this is Buddha’s gift. This is Buddha’s gift how you handle with your life. Is it too hot? Or is it me? Or is it really hot? Huh? Can somebody open the windows a little bit? I think its me, I’m hot. What is it? [0:31:28.2] (remarks by Rimpoche unrelated to teaching) Anybody? we can take little question here. [0:31:31.8]

Rimpoche: Sir?

Audience: He says well, its possible to understand these 4 Noble Truths but why does it take such a long time before it works?

Rimpoche: Good question. Let me put the question back. How much time do you really put in? Look in our daily life. How much time we really put in spiritual path? 50% of the time we like to sleep, don’t we? 8 hours. 7, 8 hours. Then taking nap in between, *Rimpoche laughs* then daily chores. Daily chores like you know cooking, cleaning, eating food..and the gossiping *audience laughs* you know look! Really! And then of cos you have to work! Maybe not so many people work and but you know…*Audience laughs* and so you know, like 15, 20 hours already gone in there. So how many time you really put in? I mean those of us who claims to be spiritual practitioner like this fellow over here. *Audience laughs* You know, ya really! And how much time you really put in is very limited. Very limited! Really! 24 hours a day? That’s the maximum. And so you command them when hour wise in the 60 years of life how much you really put in? (kindly recheck this sentence) [0:34:16.6 to 0:34:24.1] So five years or so at most? So that really shows why it takes time. Is that too direct answer? I hope not. [0:34:47.4]

So that is really true. And we somehow we tend to want the suffering. We want freedom, we don’t really work for it. On the contrary, we work against that. Because we have Queen Ant inside. She will not allow us to do that. So this is the problem. If you really put solid effort, doesn’t really take that much. Anyway, so I would like to do little bit of work out of this. Urhmm..I don’t know what its called anyway. So, *Rimpoche pauses* [0:36:02.3 to 0:36:17.5] Okay. In this ?? [0:36:19.5], it is regarding the Green Tara. Urhmm…what she had something special is what we call it protecting from the 8 fears. *Rimpoche chuckles* Its in the book? (Rimpoche started talking to the audience, audio unclear and there were Dutch translation which the transcriber cannot interpret) Did I do the? [0:36:44.5 to 0:36:51.7]

Rimpoche: Did I do that last time? 8 fears?

Audience: You did few of them. You didn’t do the 8 of them. 2 or something.

Rimpoche: Okay. 2 or something last time. So these are not necessarily fear that we acknowledge as fear. But these are sort of big nightmares of spiritual practitioners. That’s what they call it fear, nightmares, fears. [0:37:21.8]

Rimpoche: So I would like to talk to you the first one here, according to this. It’s the first problem, first nightmare is the pride. Pride. You know what pride is? Okay. The pride, what does pride do? And this particular book, this particular note I have here is sort of the metaphor they use is lion. For pride. So what does lion, lion has big pride, right? They say the kind of wild animal and this and that. All these lion have big pride, you know? So what does lion do? So lion mostly remain either in the forest or the mountains do not mix with the other animals much. You know why? He thinks he is superior and that’s why cannot mixed up. So has to have lonely life. So similarly, the pride would also like to remain us not necessarily alone, but pride will let us remain within in control of ignorance. It’s true. Because if you gone out of the ignorance, the pride will lose everything. So that’s why pride will make sure that you remain within the ignorance. Then makes you think you are different and better. You know why? If somebody tell you ‘you’re wonderful’, you like it! We all do! You know that’s why people use buttering business as everybody does that for you know, for anybody’s little gain, whether its political, economic whatever it is. People butter each other. So that is the crashing of the pride. Right? Actually all these politicians, they do everything wrong all the time, you know the reason why they all the time wrong is not because they want to do wrong but there so many people who buttering them and make them do wrong! Because the buttering business! And politics is the biggest scale. [0:41:20.8]

And then smaller scale in your own company, in your own office and even in our own home! And within your own family and that’s our pride will function that way. In reality, it is harming you. but you enjoy it because somebody buttering you! so that is the pride functions you like a lion within you. Okay. So recognize when that comes. And not to be happy with the buttering business. It isn’t important. You know people butter you make you do something which you don’t want to do, you get into trouble.

Then the second point here, the second point, the second emotional point is the ignorance. The metaphor for, the animal metaphor for that, it is elephant! The wild elephant! The wild elephant who is not tamed. And it was drunk. You know, you know. Do you know anything about elephant? You now when elephant get drunk it’s a big problem. You have no idea how big problem! *Audience laughs* so why drunkard elephant will not go on a straight road? Anyway, so they’ll go in the wrong road and they will not hesitate to come on the way to get them out. So with the mind of harming, they put their fang? (Tusk, someone from audience/translator said this) tusk ready to harm anybody. And put the trunk out ready to catch anybody. Put their legs hands out ready to smash anybody. [0:44:44.3]

So the ignorance does that to us. Couldn’t care less what happen to other people. As long as you can knock them out, smash them out, throw them out, out of your way, you’ll do it. That’s ignorance! Like a wild elephant. Ignorance also give this shutter for the pride? [0:45:27.4] So lot of our negative emotions are actually grown out of ignorance. You know negativities, what makes it negativities? What makes it positive? Any action that causes pain for the other person is become negative! Or to yourself. So any action that causes help for the other person or for yourself is become positive! So it is in a way what is good, what is bad is very difficult subject to be taught but in a way it is easy too! So the ignorance here is not really not knowing, but sort of wrong perceiving, wrong perceiving couldn’t care less, harming others doesn’t really matter, its not in your consideration as long as you get away with it. [0:47:09.6]

This is wild, drunkard elephant, remember that. When you have that attitude coming up, remember the wild drunkard elephant, okay? And use some hook. You know the elephant they use hook on the back of their ear for training? (an audience said something which was inaudible, translator said something in Dutch in response to that ) [0:47:45.2 to 0:47:48.5] So the hook what you have to use is awareness. And the remembering. Okay? So then you can pull that. Otherwise, it will be like a wild lion without any…..what you call that horses you put that thing pull here and there. (Rimpoche was trying to explain to translator, translator told Rimpoche that she knows what Rimpoche is trying to say in Dutch and then she translated) [ 0:48:15.9 to 0:48:30.4] So then if you have you know they will go, no control at all, right? So so that’s important. The ignorance. So what we have? Pride one, ignorance two. Right? Pride is like a lion, ignorance like a drunkard elephant. These metaphors we try to give you idea how they function within you. Don’t look outside, there’s no wild elephant going there, there’s wild urhmmm lion going….but think how you behaving. [0:49:36.7]

Now next will be the hatred. Metaphor for that is fire, not an animal but fire. So it is interesting. This fire of the hatred has been contributed tremendously by the wrongdoing. You know when the wind blows, the fire blows, right? So the wrongdoing which wind of wrongdoing, wrong action, the action that created by this wild elephant, it is the wrong action and that will give it strength to this fire to burn more. And not only that, when the fire is burning, there’s tremendous amount of smoke you created, right? And the smoke here is the misbehaving! You know misbehaving? You do differently. People see it. You know people see there’s smoke, you say “ah there’s a smoke and there must be fire!” Right? So you misbehaved here. You do wrong things. Things you should not be doing – stealing, raping or whatever you know, cheating, lying or all these misbehaving! And all these misbehaving is signal that the person has hatred against you. [0:52:05.2]

When there is hatred with you, you always give yourself some signal. No matter how much you try to deal with that, but its can never be, never be able to be totally settled because the hatred is there. So within that smoke of misbehaving, you get another biggest problem. That biggest problem is hatred is burning all your positive karma. You know the fuel for the hatred, is the positive karma. Ya. Positive karma get burnt! Burnt by the hatred! So Buddha goes on and says “ (Rimpoche said a phrase in Tibetan) [0:53:13.5 to 0:53:21.1] Buddha said “there is no negativity so heavy as that of hatred.” Right? Anger, hatred combined together. That is the problem. We got 3 of them, right? Right?

Now the fourth one is jealousy. And metaphor for that is a snake! Poison snake! So what does poison snake do? Poison snakes always like to hide in some kind of darkness and the wet swamp or something. So here the jealous will also hide in the shadow of ignorance. So unbearable when somebody is doing better. When somebody is doing better, you don’t like it. Because we think I should be doing one, because my Queen Ant is getting angry then you know. [0:55:06.6]

So you dislike when others doing good. So what do you do? You have poison within you, you poison snake! So you give that poison as fast as you can, to all these area, wherever you could! So when you see somebody’s doing good, you don’t like it, so you spread rumors, you do all sorts of thing. Whatever you have to do! Something harming the other one. That’s what it is. That’s like snake poison trying to give poison to anybody everybody! Get it? So this is jealousy how it functions. It is the poison snake! When they don’t like it, so what they do? They throw poison to everybody you can, you know? That’s what jealousy does! Right? Is that right or wrong? If you don’t like someone, if you are jealous of somebody, you gonna throw poison as much as you could! Definitely!

And then the next one is while this is maybe a Buddhist view now. Urhmm…They call it wrong view. The metaphor for the wrong view like thief. What does thief do? *Rimpoche chuckles* Take your valuables away! *Rimpoche laughs* so the wrong view will also take your valuable things from you. Any positive karma that you have, anything you do they try to take it away from you! It is simple! Let’s say karma. And the wrong view will say “well, the karma is bullshit! There is no such thing call karma. What are you talking about it?” [0:58:12.5]

Then you begin to worry “oh maybe there is no karma.” This may be a total Buddhist trick! (please recheck if Rimpoche really meant TRICK) [0:58:27.0] So, I really don’t care, so let me enjoy and make few jealousies here and few poisons there. And then behave like a little wild elephant, get anybody on my way out. So when you do that, what do you lose? You lose your positiveness! So that’s what it called wrong view takes away the positive action. [0:59:11.4]

Alright. The next is this stinginess. Stinginess. Stinginess is against the generosity. You now we all know the generosity is great. We all know, nobody had question, nobody raises question. It’s funny! Everybody accept generosity is something positive, right? This is something everybody accepts, I don’t know why, but it is. So what does stinginess, stinginess is against the generosity. Metaphor for that is the iron chain. Iron chain. You know the chain? (Translator acknowledges that she knows the chain) Iron chain. So what do they do when they take you to jail, they put your hands crossed at the back and put the chain on it. So stinginess do the same thing – make the individual not to be generous and not to do something positive, tie your hand behind you! So they will try to keep you hopelessly in the prison of samsara. Do you get it? You know because they will not let you do anything positive because you are tied. Your body is tied with iron chain, your hands are tied and your body is tied. Not only tied but its also locked! You know the lock here is attachment. So anything you want to be generous, the attachment will come up say “no no no! I can’t do that. I’ve been needing that. I have use for that and I need for me.” So that’s what it is. That is how the attachment functions like a lock on that chain. So that is the another negative emotion. [1:02:42.0]

Rimpoche: What number is that now?

Audience: 6

Rimpoche: 6? Somebody says 6, somebody says 7.

Translator: I think its 6

Rimpoche: Alright. Anyway. It has to be 6. It has to be 6. The next is attachment. Attachment is like water. Metaphor is the water. What does water do? Take it away? right? When you had last year?? (please recheck this) [1:03:36.1 to 1:03:40.4] Anything comes with that, they take it way to wherever. To sea or wherever it takes. They take it away. Right? So the attachment will make sure that you remain in the continuation of suffering. You know we all seek freedom, we all seek liberation. However, we cannot get it. Because attachment makes us stick to something. Normal teachings will tell you, attachment is glue for samsara. Right? Are you with me? So attachment make sure hold down to the samsara. So its like a river that carries you towards the continuation in the water. Not only that, within that journey of the river, sometimes the wind will shake and you get huge this thing, what you call that? Wave or stones?? [1:05:29.2] The wind here is the karma and the delusion. [1:05:42.2]

The wave here is the birth, death illness and (translator says old age) aging. So what’s happening is not only they take you towards continuation of samsara, but even the journey is made very rough. That’s what attachment does. But the attachment will also give you a nice little feeling too. So people enjoy attachment. Because that is the surface of the attachment. And you think ‘great, fun’, having great fun in that. But what you forgetting is that is wave will change any minute! So that’s how attachment is like a river! [1:07:00.3]

Then the last one I think, should be the last one is the doubt. You know the metaphor for the doubt is ghost. *Rimpoche chuckles* You know? Ghost! (audio distrupted but there was a commotion after Rimpoche mentioned ghost, I think some in the audience were puzzled, the translator attempted to explain in Dutch) [1:07:25.3 to 1:07:39.9] *Rimpoche chuckles* What does ghost do? Ghost is normally function in darkness, right? If there’s the light, they won’t come. We see that in the movies all the time anyway. Vampires will never appear in the daylight. *Rimpoche laughs* So they will only appear at the night. Are you getting the message? The message is if there is no ignorance, if there is no ignorance, they cannot function. So many of them you find them you know say in darkness, in there without light, this thing, this thing. We have couple of them. So which really shows you the ignorance is the main cause. So what does vampire (translator reassures Rimpoche by saying Vampire) will do? Try to harm anybody around right? Try to bite or whatever it is. So the ghost, the vampire is…..so vampire is against innocent people. Its biggest threat because they gonna bite here or something. I’m talking about the movie only! So the doubt can destroy the life of the liberation. [1:09:50.6]

This is very interesting. I want you to pay a little attention here. In one way, you should never have blind faith. You must carefully check, countercheck of what you want to do for your spiritual development. Once you find good one, you should not have much doubt in that. Because if you keep on doubting all the time, your life is going to be very doubtful and then before the doubt is over, you die! So what happen is this is how the doubt destroys the life of liberation. You know very unfortunate incident that I recall in Jewel America. There was a guy, a guy who have long hair. *Rimpoche chuckles* *Audience laughs after listening to Dutch translation* and comes occasionally and sits at the back and always sort of suspicious. Always suspicious. Might have go on that man about 2 years or so. But comes only occasionally. So then I noticed him coming more regularly. [1:12:10.4 ]

And then he wanted see me one day.

And he told me “I’m very happy to be here”

He said: “I wondering everywhere.”

He said: “I went in New Age. I went native American practice?? (please recheck this 1:12:38.5) And I went to Hinduism, and then he said I went to other Tibetan Buddhisms too. Everywhere whenever I turn around, (you know the expression what he give me) everywhere whenever I turn around, they asking money”

And he said: “I did give money, I listened to them, I practiced. Nothing happened to me.”

Then he said: “I came here, I got all these cheques (he gave me around 4,5 cheques), I couldn’t give to anybody. Nobody takes me??” (please recheck this part 1:13:36.9) That’s exactly he told me. At those moment we are not even organized so who knows who’s collecting what. So anyway, my job was to teach whatever I know so I’ve been doing that so we don’t really organize that way. He’s carrying those cheques.

He said “I can’t give to anybody. Nobody takes.”

So he said “I’m very happy. I want to study this carefully. I want achieve something.”

So 3 weeks later, I saw a lady that I’ve not seen before in the talk.

And afterwards she came up and she said “do you remember somebody by name?”

I said “Familiar. Is he the long hair guy?”

And she said “Yes yes. I’m his wife. I was his wife. The guy died with car crash 2 weeks later.” [1:15:15.1]

So what had happened is 2 years solid that he had been in Jewel Heart, remained under as suspicion. You know - under suspicion and doubt. So you could have used that period, something benefit for himself until when he’s 2 years later when he’s totally convinced, he only left 2 weeks. So if you’re over-suspicious, over-doubt, then that’s problem. And if you are not suspicious, then you are following blind faith, which is even worse! So one has to know really balancing. And that’s how one should go in spiritual path. So the doubt, if you over fed the doubt, it’s like a vampire.

Okay? So basically these are the 8 negative nightmares of spiritual practitioners with their metaphor. The reason why the metaphors there because to recognize within yourself. Now the second question will be , if you recognize those negative behavior within you, what can you do? Okay. So we’ll take little break here. 10 or…this is America’s commercials time. *Audience laughs* On the television. *Rimpoche laughs* Take a 10 or 15 minutes break and then we meet again we’ll talk what can you do. [1:18:11.5]

So now the commercial break is over, so we have to hahahahha! *Rimpoche laughs* *Audience laughs*

Rimpoche: What’s that? *Audience laughs* (at this point audience explained what’s happening on the floor to Rimpoche but inaudible) [1:18:32.8 to 1:18:34.6 ] Oh!! That’s interesting. You can…..?? (someone from the audience explains to Rimpoche again but inaudible) [1:18:38.2 to 1:18:42.0]. That’s very interesting one.

Audience: (said something but inaudible) [1:18:44.2 to 1:18:47.1 ] *audience laguhs*

Rimpoche: Very good. So now the solutions for the problems. [1:19:06.7]

(something happened amongst the audience so there was a commotion) [from 1:19:06.7 to 1:19:12.9]

Rimpoche: What happened?

Audience: (someone tries to explain to Rimpoche but inaudible) [1:19:14.1 to 1:19:21.9]

Rimpoche: I keep on telling you this is commercials. *Audience laughs* Urhmm… There is a general solution and individual solutions. And the each and everything, there is you know there is direct opening of each one of those negative emotions. And tools of the negative emotions. For example, we recognize this morning – laziness is one of the tools of the negative emotions, remember? Somewhere. I forgot which one is it but anyway. Which one we recognized this morning but actually almost of those negative emotions are very strong with laziness. And one of the biggest point of them is to hide under the ignorance. By hiding under the ignorance, you don’t get acknowledgement or recognition. [1:21:02.7]

By not getting recognition, you give room for denial. So naturally, you say “I’m not angry BUT bla bla bla bla bla bla, right? I’m not jealous BUT there is agenda, there’s this, there’s that and it goes on and talking and talking.” So the negative emotions are really function under denial. Oh you’re there, I’ve been looking for you there. (I think Rimpoche said this as a passing remark to one student because translator did not translate this. Kindly recheck) So they working with denial. So the ignorant is very good to give them room for denial. So this best general solution is solution to attack of the ignorance - which is the wisdom. So now what I’m doing is what I’m doing something which I told you not going to do. *Rimpoche chuckles* I told you yesterday and this morning is the Buddhist philosophy. *Rimpoche chuckles* Anyway, Buddha gives us for saying emptiness. (please recheck this phrase) [from 1:22:44.4 to 1:23:03.3] Emptiness is the most important wisdom you can apply for all generally all these emotions. The Queen Ant is the subject to be refuted. So the recognition of not existing Queen Ant is the real true emptiness. That is general solution. Does that make sense to anybody? Probably everybody heard about it, said “What is it?” That probably is there. [1:24:12.1]

Not sure whether I will allow you to speak or not, right this moment. Okay. Go ahead. Only one okay? Because I don’t want to be disturbed.

Audience: (someone asked a question but inaudible) [1:24:29.7 to 1:24:38.8]

Rimpoche: Since there is no Queen Ant, so how can I explain? *Audience laughs* We all think there is Queen Ant we work for, but we never seen it, Right? You know all this is sometimes even those mystical movies even…you do so much things there’s something behind and then finally you don’t have it. It’s very similar to that. So the Queen Ant is not really there but we think it is there and we be subject to be working for that. So the emptiness here is empty of Queen Ant. The empty of ‘self’, ego. That’s what really is. I don’t want urhmmmm.. confuse you by giving you this particular point. However, its very hard to get it clear on that. It is really very hard to get it clear on that. [1:26:51.1]

You know people normally talk about the dualistic and non-dual and this and that. You have heard that, you have heard. Many of you have heard that, right? And all of them are connected. [1:27:20.1]

(recording stopped at 1:27:22.5 after Dutch translation)
