(Jewel Heart) as administrator of The Gelek Rimpoche Archive and Web Portal and The Gelek Rimpoche Foundation (the Foundation) as owner of the Archive and this Web Portal (collectively “We” (because if Jewel Heart is no longer the administrator, the information about users reverts to the Foundation)) respect the Gelek Rimpoche Archive Web Portal users and their privacy. This Privacy Policy covers all of gelekrimpoche.org and related properties owned or controlled by the Foundation and administered and or licensed by Jewel Heart on this Gelek Rimpoche Archive Web Portal. This Privacy Policy does not apply to entities not owned or controlled by the Foundation or Jewel Heart as administrator, such as third-party applications and/or other web sites. This Policy does not cover The Gelek Rimpoche Archive Web Portal’s presence on social media platforms such as, including but not limited to: Youtube, Facebook, Google+, Linkedin, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Flickr, Soundcloud, and on publishing platforms such as, including but not limited to: Issuu, Scribd, Medium on which we have not established our own presence. In the context of those platforms, if and to the extent we use them, we are merely another user and the privacy policies as well as the terms and conditions of those platforms are applicable.
Information Covered
The Privacy Policy covers information users provide to us, including, but not limited to, name, email address, physical address, phone number, other personal information, content of messages and comments, and transactional information, including but not limited to, credit card and billing data. Information collected from users may include their site activity, access device, browser type, their location, IP address, pages visited, cookies, and other similar information. Sources for the information provided to us include, but not limited to, email signups and archive registrations through this website. If user opt to register and receive Jewel Heart emails about Jewel Heart, other than about The Gelek Rimpoche Archive, the Jewel Heart privacy policy covers information users provide for that purpose.
How We Use Information
We use the Information Covered to manage services provided by us such as contacting users regarding the Archive and/or Jewel Heart via email with their consent. We do not share non-personally identifiable information, such as aggregated user statistics, with third parties. We keep such information for only as long as needed for business operations and legal compliance.

We use Google Analytics’ to track website usage.

Signing up for email
Jewel Heart as administrator uses a third-party platform, MailChimp, to manage our email distribution lists. If you choose to register for email by clicking a check box on our Web Portal, you will be presented with a secured form in which you will be asked to provide your Personal Information, which includes your email address, and you will be asked to select your mailing preferences. Any information you submit through this secured form is provided directly by you to MailChimp and is also subject to MailChimp’s privacy policy. Jewel Heart has a data processing agreement in place with MailChimp, as we are the controller of such Personal Information provided by you to MailChimp and as we have the right to access such Personal Information and process the Personal Information for the purposes as set herein.
Making a donation
Jewel Heart as administrator uses a third party, Stripe, to process online donations for maintenance of the Archive, which donations are made to Jewel Heart electronically through this Web Portal. If you choose to make a donation by clicking “Donate”, you will be transferred to Stripe’s secured form. Any information you submit via this Web Portal through Stripe’s secured donations form is provided directly by you to Stripe and is subject to Stripe’s privacy policy. Stripe will provide Jewel Heart with certain information about you (including your name, billing address, email address, donation amount, and the reason for the donation if applicable, but not your credit card number) when you choose to make an online donation to The Gelek Rimpoche Archive through the Website.
How We Share the Information Covered
We may disclose information pursuant to subpoenas, court orders, or other requests (including criminal and civil matters) required from jurisdictions inside or outside of the United States where we have a good faith belief that the response is required under local laws of that jurisdiction, applies to users from that jurisdiction, and is consistent with generally accepted international standards. Jewel Heart also respect minors’ privacy. The Gelek Rimpoche Archive Web Portal is intended for adults. Children under age 13 are not permitted to join this site. We also recommend that minors 13 years of age or older ask their parents for permission before sending any information.
Changes to our Privacy Policy
We reserve the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time without notice to you. Any changes will be effective immediately upon the posting of the revised Privacy Policy. Governing Laws; Jurisdiction; Commencement of Actions
This Privacy Policy and the interpretation of this Privacy Policy will be governed by and construed under the laws of the state of Michigan, without regard to its conflicts of laws principles, and will specifically not be governed by the United Nations conventions on contracts for the international sale of goods, if otherwise applicable.
