…Speech, mind blessings are collected in the form of Tara image, Tara mantra, or utpala flower. People may think the flower Tara carrying is lotus. I believe it is not lotus it is called utpala flower. And also nectar. Sort of red, white um or blue, mixed nectar. And from the body, speech, mind which is crown, throat, and heart of Tara and lama a tremendous amount of nectar come and dissolve to you, filled up your body completely. Purify all negativities, in general, and in particularly negativities that you have accumulated from the limitless from the beginning, particularly from killing, etcetera – etcetera that body, mind, speech together created anything of that, that is the most powerful so purify completely in the form of undesirable the colors that you don’t like, the insects or animals that you don’t like, in their form. It is separate and leaves your body, your area, your circle completely goes way, completely. You become a pure, clean and obtained blessings of the Tara’s body, mind, speech and your body, mind, speech now be capable to become a vajra which is indestructible body, indestructible speech, indestructible thought. So that is what you have to visualize.

Now, I have to say certain rituals here, certain verses that is calling to the lineage masters they name. And, uh, requesting them to bless and give their blessings to all of you and rejuvenate all your uh physical mental spiritual strength and whatever you can obtain make it permanent and that is what we request each name that is called, and after every name we say bless, bless, bless, you know? And uh called, and finally we will say Dzah Hum Bam Oh which means dissolve in you. At that time in your visualization that you will in your visualization that duplicate Tara, a small duplicate Tara, about an inch, comes out of the Torma and dissolves to you, becomes, remains within in you. Sort of dissolve with you, so become, sort of becoming in your nature so thus you can also build Tara nature within you. So that is the, that is the thing, okay? So that is what you have to say those long Tibetan names and then I will stop and tell you it is time now you have to think duplicate. So the names are the lineage masters. So also make a very strong request to Tara you, we say you have tremendous capability, you have commitment, you have kindness, I’m here to seek on behalf of these individuals to receive these blessings. Give them, please give them now, give them right this moment, give them bliss right there sitting before they even make move before they get up. Right now at this moment at that time, and all that sort of thing. It is very strong words they will go.
(Rimpoche begins prayer to lineage masters at 0:05:47.0)

Actually lama brings the wisdom Tara along with buddhas and bodhisattvas on your crown, sort of when we have time we touch that on your crown, whether you touch or not you have to visualize brought on your crown and then make this request.
(Rimpoche continues prayer in Tibetan)
0:07:12.3
Not only that at end when before I enter you say Dzah Hum Bam Oh all the enlightened begins dissolve to each other and finally dissolve to the Tara and you now remember the space full of enlightened begins they dissolve to Tara, from Tara a duplicate of Tara comes, melting in form of light and dissolves to you. It becomes inseparable from your nature. So now I go to the lineage masters names.
(Rimpoche continues prayer to lineage masters)

Whether you touch the torma to your head, or didn’t touch, doesn’t matter. Most important thing, not material, but meditation (laughs). So, that is what it is.
Now, next is the (speaking in Tibetan with audience member).
0:13:27.7
So, next is the, now this is out at the beginning I said through Torma, through nectar, through pill, through prayer. Right? Now through Torma is done, completely gone. Now is through nectar. Um, that is the normally the traditions here will say say it is the five nectars and um don’t let me explain that, okay? Those who know they know. Those who don’t know you don’t want to know. Five nectars, you know? (laughs) Five nectars, so…it includes everything, everything, you know? Five nectars. Those of you know (to audience member - a baby? “Do you want to drink milk? Laughs). Five nectars.
(To audience member in Tibetan – inaudible) at 0:14:36.4
Five nectars, that is, um, you really don’t want to know so it doesn’t matter (audience laughter). So, but in reality it is not those five nectars it is just milk. Just simple milk, which is done through ritual Om Ah Hum, actually Om Ah Hung. And, uh, Om to, Hung purifies, Ah transforms, Om multiplies. Sort of, so now you know what nectars are five, have to be most horrible stuff every possible and uh be able to transform them, multiple them so make into nectar, that is why. So, according to the ritual it is actually five nectars. Purified, multiplied and transformed. So, in reality it is a little bit of milk. If you taste this a little bit and uh with the Tara blessed and mantra and bless it and that purifies restraining all your energies within your nadis. So that is what you have to visualize.
0:16:04.3
(Tibetan ritual begins)
0:17:15.3
We can send the nectar around, and uh if you want a taste you take it. But don’t take the spoon and put in the mouth. If you do other person will not like it. So, take it in your hand and then whoever give you, you want to go give it, just give a little drop, don’t give too much, then they don’t know what to do with the hand it becomes sticky stuff. So, maybe you should take some napkins with you, but you don’t have enough napkins so it doesn’t matter. So, little bit…I may have a napkin in my bag. Who has my bag? Maybe a fresh napkin there? No, okay.
So take two person, one goes on the giving the thing and the other one will give them napkin to clean. So, you want to go? (to audience member). Who wants to give the thing? Okay.
(Tibetan ritual continues at 0:18:36.4)
…wait one minute. Wait one minute. Oh, give to her and wait one minute. (direction to audience)
It is also the pills are supposed to be medicinal pill which will be able to destroy the four hundred million some illnesses, that is what tradition will tell you. And um, in old Tibet they make you buy those with sugar. Where we have chocolate covered yogurt. Is that that right? Who bought this? Yogurt raisin? Oh, I thought it was white chocolate. Okay, so raisin coated with yogurt, sweet I’m sure. So, anyway…
(Ritual in Tibetan continues 0:20:13.8)
0:21:16.2
Then the napkin can go. You want separate person to carry napkin? Connie, can you?
(Ritual continues)
You can give the napkin if they need it.

So those included. Both pill and nectar together. So, outline nectar, pill. Now left is the auspicious praying. So how do we pray, actually it is a dedication. How do we do it? We’ll say, we say (Tibetan words not audible).
We say look at enlightened begins. They are completed, actually not only completed but gone beyond activity of the generosity. They have not only completed complete generosity, even going beyond. So by the power of those enlightened beings their great generosity power we may be able to enjoy long, healthy, and prosperity life. That is number one. We do six paramitas.
(Tibetan ritual recitation here at 0:28:20.2)
0:29:18.8
The first. The second will be the morality. Those enlightened begins kept their commitments. And they have a tremendous amount of morality. By that power we may be able to benefit and have longevity, health and completement of generosity, morality and all those. So we do that.
(Tibetan ritual recitation continues)
0:30:43.3
Next will be patience. All the enlightened being have the, practice patience tremendously. Not only perfect but going beyond. Buy that power we may be able to follow the same thing and have longevity and healthy and good patience that can overpower anger, hatred, jealously, all this negative emotions and the hatred may be able to stop and eradicated by the power of this patience.
(Tibetan ritual recitation continues)
0:32:27.4
So, next is enthusiasm or diligence. By the power of them may be overcome all of our laziness. Particularly the easy lazy, Western specialized laziness, which I’ll call busy lazy. So, really we wanted to be very busy and take truly take away from the things you are really supposed to do. That is why it becomes laziness ever though it is busy. So, by the power of the enlightened beings completement and going beyond of a perfect enthusiasm we may follow the same thing and have a longevity and health.
(0:33:26.8 Tibetan ritual recitation continues)
0:34:24.8
The next will be concentration. So, the really big fickeling mind that we have we can’t concentrate jumping here and there. We do much more faster jumping than that of those electric jumping lights, even more faster than that. So, to be able to concentrate, concentrate on the right thing. I mean, you can concentrate on anything these are the really tools to make perfection, so the concentration is another tool, whatever you want to, if you concentrate it helps you. Here we want concentration on the positive karmic activities.
(0:35:24.3 Tibetan ritual recitation continues)
0:36:15.1
Now the next and last will be wisdom. So the ignorance is our biggest problem, the antidote to ignorance is wisdom. So we will try to catch the completed development of the wisdom of the buddhas, and we may be able to follow the same thing and by their power we may have longevity healthy and wisdom. Rich with the great wisdom.
(0:36:56.0 Tibetan ritual recitation continues)
0:37:45.9
Okay. I believe that is that. Thus we complete all basic four outlines of White Tara longevity initiation empowerment healing practice through torma, through mantra, torma mantra goes together, through torma, through pill, through nectar through prayer. All completed. That also coming to you not as some kind of obstruct from anywhere. It is coming to you from Tara with the unbroken lineage of the great many masters who have completed. If you really look in the lineage masters and most of them all in their 80s and 90s which is very, very long life for the Tibetans, with that climate, that condition at that time. And there is, I don’t think anyone below 60s, so it was very great thing for this.
So, I should say you have been very fortunate to be able to receive this, and I’m very happy to be able to share with you all who had a great deal of interest here. And, uh, this initiation and this blessing and this, just I received, oh I got one, I got one, I got one, that doesn’t do much good. By receiving this it will demand certain things from you. The demand here is basically when you take refuge to Buddha so what does that demand?
Do not take refuge to non-enlightened beings. So do not go and take refuge to ghost. I don’t mean holy ghost, but ghost who are completely overpowered by negative emotions. When you rely on those types of spirit or whatever it might be, so they’ll make you do the same thing because they think it is the good way to do, so they will empower you in attachments, they will empower in anger, they will empower you in hatred, they will empower you in ignorance. And that is the reason by by taking refuge to Buddha they tell you to not take refuge to non-enlightened beings.
0:41:19.7
By taking refuge to dharma, they tell you what to not to do. That is important. To not to do is do not harm other living beings. Don’t hurt other people. Don’t hurt yourself. Don’t hurt others. So, that is another. And by taking refuge to sangha do not submit yourself to the non-virtuous friend. Non-virtuous friend. This is very interesting part. Non-virtuous friend will normally tell you “ This might be very good, this may be terrible, so why should you be generous? Because you need it. Save everything. Don’t give. Be miser. Because you need it.
Awe, forget about your morality nobody will ever know. Do whatever you want to do. If you can skip the police it is okay. Go ahead and steal it. Go ahead and kill it. Those are called non-virtuous friend.
You know, ourself we wanted to do the right thing, we wanted to be good. But we are not strong enough. We are very easily can be, can be confused and convinced by other suitable talker or speaker or somebody who will be like a really caring loving for you. I’m only for you for your own good. So from that angle when they talk to you, and you begin to convince or confuse and that’s how we get into trouble. Everybody. No one would like to do the wrong thing intentionally. But somehow we get caught into it, normal American expression is “You landed in the wrong place at the wrong time.” It is because of non-virtuous friend, that is what happened.
0:44:01.9
This is very important. So that is what by taking refuge by taking refuge to sangha, they say what not to do is do not mixed up with a lot of non-virtuous friends, not a lot of time, doesn’t matter whether it is one or multiple. Anybody who has tried to take you away from being kind, compassionate, caring, anybody who like to take you away for free yourself from negative emotions, and these are the non-virtuous friends. That is what they tell you. That is what Tara’s initiation will demand even if you did not take refuge. So, that is what it is. So, the positive side…
(Recording blank from 0:45:14.8 until 0:45:26.6)
(Rimpoche appearing to answer question from audience)
No, you don’t have to do everything all the time. No, certain colors, certain focus, certain energy, certain elements, certain time, perfectly fine. And if you want to do it all together you can do also do the multicolor rainbow and do it good. That also fine. Everything fine. Okay?
Audience question: My question is about karma and non-virtuous friends. That (inaudible). What do you do when those people are in your life for instance when you encounter them (inaudible). How do you…
Rimpoche: Give them a good smile. (laughs). Unless it is your boss, you don’t have to listen. Don’t argue. No point of arguing. Just listen and give a good smile always. Don’t argue. Don’t try to argue. It won’t work. Well, if it is your companion then especially don’t argue. Get into trouble. Right? Give them a good smile. Listen. Keep on listening. It helps the other person tremendously. Actually, actually you know a lot of people suffer tremendously because they cannot share their suffering. If they can speak to somebody it would be very helpful. I think the therapist probably may not have to do much just keep on and it would help tremendously. But we won’t. We like to argue. And we, always everybody wants to be teacher and guide and never listen. The best teacher is who listens. Okay?
Any other questions? No questions. I’m going to close the shop. The way I close is thank you so much. And, uh, great, it has been wonderful to be with you and thank you. And we do meet every what every month, right? Every week.
Audience member from Jewel Heart: Yeah, the schedule is on the table on the way out. Basically we have something going on pretty much every Sunday. We either have a videotape (healing?) of Rimpoche teaching, uh that is up at Broadway and Lawrence at the Uptown Bank building. We also have um uh another guided meditation or just kind of a seated meditation with (Sonan?) who was here earlier. Rimpoche will start coming again in September for regular teachings once a month. So we’re having (?) in July so the whole schedule is sitting there on the table. Oh yeah, the summer retreat the Jewel Heart summer retreat is going to happen in Michigan, near Flint Michigan. It is one week long and goes from August 29 to September 5th and it is uh we do it in a camp and its uh how can I describe it, it is a really great way for someone who doesn’t have a lot of experience in Buddhism to get um really good indoctrinated and learn some things and the food is really good. So, we should have retreat brochures back there. If there is anyone who wants phone numbers of people in Jewel Heart sangha in Chicago and have any questions or want to connect with someone is a part of Jewel Heart Chicago sangha we would be happy to give numbers for you to make contact.
