Good morning everybody. I would like to remind you to generate pure thoughts as I been explaining yesterday. Can we have the number two slide please. Thank you. So, anyway, as yesterday we talked about generating Tara in front of you. I did explain the yidam. I also explained what is generating Tara but I did not say what is , what you called it, front generation. In front of you, you generate a Tara, so you called it front generation. Generating in front of you, you call it front generation. I wanted to clarify that point. And then there is something called self generation which is really, since you are here, we used the word occasionally here and there. So, like to say it and that is generating, rather imagining, producing yourself as Tara. And that is called self generation. There is a question. The question is can anybody do this because I attend that retreat. The answer is no. It has, if you generate yourself in the form of any yidam as I explained last night. Without three requisites, we all get downfall. This downfall we call it losing of secrecy. I like to say this because this gives me opportunity. Some people think losing of secrecy, there is something secret you are hiding inside the deep practice, you are not telling people. Few years ago, about ten years ago, we had a lady professor. Many of you may remember, many of you don’t remember, cries all the time. So one day she told me, hey there is something called very secret sexual reality going on as a practice. She said I went to Dharamsala I saw these monks and these abbots going at night here and there completely, I am sorry to say, I don’t know what she is thinking. I am sure those abbots are pure monks, have nothing to do with that. But that’s what she had imagine. So then she said that’s why you had the secrecy. She is very intelligent. Sometimes cross the other side, borderline personality. Language, cross the other side. So she imagines and she believed that’s what it is. And she thought secrecy is something to do with you have to hide. It is not. This is losing of secrecy. Anyone generates in the form of yidam, without pre-requisites is losing of secrecy. (1.55.57) And that is one of the downfalls we have. Try to demystify it, a little bit. The reason why you cannot generate because you have not completed three pre-requisites. And if you generated in the form of a yidam, without the pre-requisites, then it is losing of the secrecy, downfall. It is simple.

Anyway, since I mentioned front generation and self generation, then it may pop up again. I mentioned yesterday morning, day before. It may pop up again so that is why I wanted you to know what I am talking about it. Many do know already but some of you are quite brand new in this. So that’s the guarding of the secrecy. That is the downfall of losing the secrecy. That’s what it is . Giving the information limited. It is not losing its secrecy. Although they will tell you don’t show your practice, don’t show your tangka, don’t show yidam or whatever. Don’t public and this and that. But more or less, that is not so much important. This is. Some people think, I can’t tell my practice to others. I don’t think it is wrong. There is nothing to hide. It is open, simple, straightforward, wisdom oriented, compassion oriented and Vajrayana technique add up. There is nothing to hide. Well, I let you know what people talking about, inner offering, people have to know. That is a different story. Other than that, there is nothing really to hide. That’s what it is.

So, we talked yesterday about Tara, the Green Tara in general and I even explained to you it is not printed yellow, it is gilded and gold ones applied because to accumulate more merit because if you look at the traditions back in Tibet, you find a lot of those. And because gold is precious metal and quite rare in Tibet. Early the Indians call it Tibet as a, actually Tibet is Prita. Prita means Land of hungry ghosts. So, it indicates how poor it was at that time. So gold was rare. So in order to get a good teacher from India to teach Buddhism in Tibet, they demanded you bring gold equals to the head’s weight of that individual teacher, which they presumed the Tibetans could not managed. But somehow they found some gold mine. Anyway to make the story short, and that the best teacher’s available in India and that was suitable to Tibet, we had all of them, fortunately that’s why these great teachings of the Buddha was really been able to preserve and develop while it was preserved in Tibet. Tibetans had also sacrificed tremendously . Tibetans had totally sacrificed modern development completely in order to preserve pure teachings of the Buddha. They thought if the community gets contact with outside , they will get contaminated. That’s the reason why Tibet closed it’s border throughout, both east, west, everything until the Communist Chinese marched in and then it was end of everything which you know. That’s why I am here. So I think I have to thank Mao, Chairman Mao for kicking us out. Otherwise we won’t be coming out, right? Sort of a little old lama with a thick red cloth seating and probably sort of moving with three or four people around at this time. So, that probably be the case. So, sometimes we have to thank Chairman Mao for whatever he did. Anyway, and then we had the first Tara yesterday. That was the Red Tara yesterday. Probably either this or that, moving around and yesterday it was Red Tara.

Today the second Tara, so just like yesterday, that particular Tara is called the Great Peaceful Tara. Great Peaceful Tara is white just like autumn moon, one face, two hands, same mudra and why peace because pacified. Activity of that particular Tara is more pacified. Pacified which doesn’t make peaceful mind, country, world, everywhere where there is a lack of peace. Lack of peace is because of disturbance. Otherwise human nature is peace loving, nations are peace loving, the nature of peace loving. Everything sort of peace oriented, not war oriented, not hatred oriented. It is love oriented. So, it is mostly peace loving. However disturbance comes up. When the disturbance comes up, then it gives opportunity for all these negativities. Disturbances are unfortunate incidences such as 9/11 which completely disturb peace in here, in the United States. And that gives opportunity, you know, even people the love peace and all these and by whatever. By fear or by whatever it may be. Sometimes you may have too. To be talking about the wars. That gives opportunities to the war mongers and to be able to create disturbances throughout the world, whatever it is. And so pacifying is the job of this particular Tara, is to pacify. Clearing the obstacles that disturbs the peace. Whether it is the mind or material world situation or family situation. Small as a family, large as a nation. That is external. Internally, mind, emotional level. Mind, our mind is very peaceful, love oriented mind. Each and everyone of us, when you look in the deepest mind including Geoge ? I tell you this, if he has to choose between the violence end and love, for him or his family or extended family, he has to choose love. No way, not any human being. I don’t want to repeat, but His Holiness said in Jerusalem. Somebody asked, and he has been talking that everybody has loving nature and Buddha nature and somebody asked him. Does Hitler, what Hitler has Buddha nature. He said, sure, certainly he did but he didn’t utilise. That happened in Jerusalem. I don’t want to repeat that. However. His Holiness is perfectly right. Not because he is His Holiness. Because he is still human being. A bad human being, the Chairman Mao, Hitler and Stalin and all of those guys including Sadam Hussien and all of those are human beings. They have good part and bad part, both. And what happens is terms and conditions in which they brought in. The terms and conditions what they brought in has created the worst part of that person, and did not encourage or develop the good part of the person. And even if it is developed for convenience, political reasons, whatever and all these bad things happened, created tremendous amount of suffering throughout the world as you know. So anyway, this is the job of this pacifying peace. Pacifying slash peace Tara. Somebody asked yesterday, is it the same as White Tara? You can looked at it. Hands implements different. Gestures different. So therefore, this is called Great Pacifier. So you see the picture? What’s the difference here, the vase, this one carrying at the heart, right hand is suppose to be pure white. Transparent pure white. Otherwise everything is same in this tradition, Atisha’s system of 21 Tara. They are all same, the base keeps on changing, the colours keep on changing. Other than that they are all same. But if you looked in the other, the Suryagupta system and then it is different. There is more face, more hands. All of them are available. So what you did, now you are looking at the picture. But if you going to practice, you want to, no commitment. I am going to say this if you going to practice, then you generate that Tara in front of you as a front generation, and one face, two hands as I told you, everything. This particular vase, nectar in that, has the capability of purifying negativities in general and the illnesses, particularly obstructions. And normal system, seven limbs as we been singing in the morning, chanting in the morning when you do your Tara, White Tara practice, longevity practice when you do in the morning, you have the seven limbs too. Did you do seven limbs this morning? That is not seven limbs at all. You do? Ya, it is in the book, right? Say it. Alright, you did say it. You did not explain but you did say it. That’s good. But every time you could not explain . So the seven limbs is there. Friday, I don’t know, there may be a little change in schedule. Do you have Saturday morning? Do we have the White Tara practice? As I haven’t talked to Kathleen when you going to do the Tara blessings. So looks the possibility I am going to join them together. The morning the White Tara practice, 9 to 12 and then maybe be able to do it. So, that’s what I am thinking whether it is Friday or whatever. So, anyway the Seven Limbs going to come here, every Tara pops up. (1.39:35)

So I might as well explains a little bit to you, yesterday a little bit. First, is prostration. It is prostration, right? I our normal practice, right? Prostration and what you get idea, prostration? You may think, oh, this is holy so I prostrate. You may think that idea. Perhaps it is right, perhaps it is not. What I think of prostration is my respect, I am giving my total respect of my body, my mind, my speech, total concentrated respect. Why I want give respect? Because somebody said it is holy? And that doesn’t fly with me at all. Especially where I come from. I came from a great monastery in the way the dialectical and Tibet system was one of the best ever existed. So it is never going to fly with me. If you tell me believe me, I would say okay I will never believe you. So that’s where I came from, really. So, why do I give respect? Because that person earned your respect. And that person earned your respect because of the quality of that person. In this case quality of Tara. The quality, the knowledge, capability. You know the mind, it really deserved admiration. Which really I would like to have that. I am looking for that quality. That quality is that I wanted. So, give you the two messages. Message one, I admire you. You wonderful, I respect you. Message two is I seek your quality. Prostration, I do not know in English what does that mean. I know people doing bowing, things like that. That means prostration, I do know. But I didn’t , that doesn’t mean I know this word. That particular word in Tibetan is chak.tsal. Chak and tsal, two words. Chak is from my side, I am giving the gesture the best I could. Why I touched my forehead on the ground when I am doing the prostration. They did last night, somebody talked, remember? And giving the total body, speech and mind and finally touching my forehead on the ground. That is highest point of my body is my crown and forehead. You cannot put the crown down, you are going to be upside down. So whatever is convenient to put is the forehead. Highest point of my body touching the lowest point in front of you, that is the ground. And that is the same thing with traditional Indian culture touching the feet. Traditionally suppose to kneel down and touch your fore head to the feet of whoever, person you are touching, And lately they touch the hand down and put on hand in the culture, justify they changed it. Anyway, that is giving my highest respect. The reason why I giving this highest respect because I admire your quality and the second word, tsal, I demand that I get your quality. So you just not simply bow. You bowed because you also want something. For the purpose of the other, to respect. For the purpose of me, I want it. I want your quality. Your quality is mine. Your quality of speech. The quality of body, mind and speech. All of them. So I want it. Probably I was looking for the Pabongka’s body. I was talking last night. When I got it, I change of culture. And that is how samsara functions, impermanence. Anyway, the quality of the body, mind, speech. I don’t think the quality the fatness and thinness is the quality of the body. Body that I had, that was a joke. I am in the habit of making jokes all the time. That’s my habit. Sorry.

So the quality what you really looking is the 32 major and 80 minor parts of the enlightened being. That’s what the body quality you have been talking about. Not only that. At the enlightened level, body and mind functions one, same frequency. Body, mind functions same frequency. Another word, it is the union of body and mind. Body is mind, mind is body at that level. It is different than us. So therefore wherever where their mind is, their body is. You know what I mean? Their body is. So when they have total knowledge, their mind is everywhere, their mind is pervasive. Therefore their body becomes, is pervasive. Good old American saying, God is everywhere. That is what it is. I never forget that. I talked this one part, talk in New York. In that, the Grateful Dead were bringing. Someone was there at that time. Sonam, you were there. He was the chanting master at that time. He was leading the chants. I was suppose to be going up there and started lighting a candle light and explaining something, two minutes. Thurman told me two minutes. And I was climbing the steps, going up. Richard was the MC. And Richard talk Tibetans talk so long. So he emphasized, I hope Rimpoche will keep it two minutes, not more than that. I started climbing up on the steps. Thurman came, running, shouting. And he grabbed me and I feel off the steps, You know why? I am supposed to be leading the candle light. There were suppose to be one thousand candle lights coming in, start lighting together. I forgot candle. Thurman told me, no candle, no candle. I didn’t understand, he grabbed me and I feel down. So no candle. So I went up there. Sonam started to say, somehow the pervasiveness business of them, came up, enlightened beings. Pervasiveness came up. And I explained that. Very short time, less than two minutes. Much less than two minutes and then I walked back. It was a huge amount of people. You don’t see anything. Completely blinded. You can see a few people in there. And something to do with United Nations, some big guy. Some African American. I don’t know why he was here. One of those high ranking in church. And came to me when I came downstairs. Gave me a big fat kiss on my mouth. I was a little shocked and he said , you spoke like a Southern Orthodox that we turn, or something, he said. I wasn’t even sure it was compliment or. And I said is it complement. Of course it is, he said. He liked it, way I explained, the body, mind and the union and because the total knowledge. Total knowledge, knowing mind is there, therefore it is pervasiveness. And therefore it is everywhere. I don’t think I said God at that time. But that is the idea behind. And that idea also flies in everywhere. In every tradition, Hindu, Buddhist, everywhere because it is total knowledge. Total knowledge and the union, you know like you see the pictures everywhere, tangkas everywhere, where there are wrathful, peaceful, and male, female, union, everywhere you see. They are not talking about, that is not porno. That is not porno, they talking about union of the body and the mind. Union of inner clear light . I used another word now. Inner clear light means individual is completely observed in a certain state where there is nothing else except pure light. Pure light could be the pure female quality of the individual. Completely observed in it. And no other appearance, perception and nothing. That state is called clear light state. We have artificial level of clear light at the time of death. The real clear light will come just before you become fully enlightened. And you will rise within that openness of the clear light in the form of physical appearance, whatever physical shape you will be taking. (1.25:44) And so the unionizing, that physical shape what you are taking is illusion body and that clear light is the union which is the same as body mind union. Since I used this word I need to explain it. Why did I used the word for? So it becomes a union. Union means oneness. No separation. No separation, because of that no separation. It is the quality of that body I admire, quality of that mind that I admire. Quality of that speech that I admire. Speech is nothing but the result of your own experience what you express. It is your own experience. That is what you express. Either through sound, through music, through poetry, through drawing art, through dance, through anything, any way you can express. That is part of the speech quality. That is what you are seeking. That’s what the prostration is all about it. It is not a military salute. If the General comes and you don’t salute you court martialled. That’s not this. Not that. It is because you like the quality. You want the quality. So you bow, so you give respect. So you bow so much so you touch your highest part of your body to the lowest part of the ground. That is strongly applied. Strongly expressed. Your quality. I admire your quality. I appreciate it, I want it too. That is the first Seven Limbs. (1.23:33)

One little word. If you chant you have time to think. If you don’t chant, you said I prostrate or something, right? What do you say? I bow down body, mind and speech. Within that word when you say you have to learnt to think that. This the special quality of Tibetan Buddhism which was never, you know, picked it up in the west properly. In the west, what they picked up, meditation means seat down and think of nothing. And then when you start thinking something, you think something. If you saying something you don’t think. And that’s not right. Chris Benson knows this. He is not here, right? I didn’t see him. Chris Benson has a little bird called Simon. Simon does that. Simon says everything but doesn’t think. So we don’t want to be Chris Benson’s pet. So we must think, When we say I bow. For me, ( Rimpoche talked in Tibetan) means in Tibetan we say with all respect all my three doors, I prostrate to you. So within that you can think. If you physically doing it and then you have limitations. If you have not gone beyond what you call, law of physics. Law of Physics , so therefore then our body will limit. The moment you say by your mouth ( Rimpoche talked in Tibetan), you can’t do all these three. So you may do slowly and keep on repeating. If you are doing mentally, there is not that physical limit so therefore in your mind you can di it, prostrations, even one thousand times if you want to, while you are saying I bow , body, mind and speech, I bow , body, mind and speech I bow down in body, mind and speech. Okay, when you are doing that you can say, whatever you can think, capable. If you can do one today, maybe you can do two next week, you may be able to do three week after, seven, you know, week after that. That’s where you do it. So, if you say a word, any prayer, anything, without mind backing it. Sort of pushing, mind force, without that. If you say any word, remember, it is cyanide. Don’t eat it. It is cyanide. Okay.

So, prostration, Then comes what? Then the offerings. Prostration is also a part of purification. Traditional in Tibet, people do hundreds, thousands prostrations. Even hundred thousand is nothing, believe me. Here you go. When I said believe me, you go other round, right? So really. When I was a kid, there are people who comes as far as Amdo area where the Dalai Lama born. China, Tibet border. Way down there. They come all the way from their home, from their door step to the centre temple of Lhasa by only doing prostrations. All the way. It is like, maybe, if you go on a horse back, it probably take 30 days or something. And they come, prostrate all the way, leave no ground on a straight line, which their body did not cover. Reach up to Lhasa, the centre temple. That’s not enough. Some of them do the prostration not in this way, but side wise. That much efforts they do put. That much dedication they have. And that’s why Tibet becomes like a spiritual home. And that is just not because there are a lot of monks, a lot of lamas, a lot of mountain peaks. But because of that much people’s dedication and that’s why it has come to that. So hundred thousand is nothing compared to those. You know, side wise, take one foot step, one prostration, take one other foot step, one other prostration. I am not sure how many years they take to reach to Lhasa. But then in Lhasa when they reached, a number of them didn’t pay attention at all. Nothing, nobody there to welcome them. Nobody, nothing, you may not even get a cup pf tea or anything. One central lama who was there who was doing prostration, Looks like they are doing their own business, never bother. So that is the prostration. And purification, what else you can do other than that? Physical sacrifices for. Oh, ya it is true. Time is not money in Tibet. Was not money in Tibet. And that is different. But still the efforts is the same thing. And that is purification. It is accumulation of merit. And that was everything. Really, everything. And everyone of them had a big bump on their head, always. And that was also commonly accepted. Prostration bump, they call it. You guys have a prostration bump, that’s it. Nobody said they have third eye. They said prostration bump. (1.15:40)

The next is offering. Offering is act of generosity. Act of generosity, generosity how important it is, you all know. It is act of generosity. And that also especially to your own yidam, to your own Buddha, to your own Guru, to your own dharma, to your own sangha. To your own Tara, that even is considered more important than that of whatever great generosities that you may be doing. And that also if you been influenced by the bodhimind. Mind of the bodhimind, it is fantastic. During the time of Buddha, Buddha himself had encouraged all his followers and disciples, kings to be generous. So each one of those kings, they even had a competition between kingdoms to be more generous. So what they built those days were festival type of camp grounds where they built tents and so forth and music and people come in and offered and then they threw the generosity gifts, food, medicine, not only the food and medicine, jewellery and gold and silver and all of them. And then Buddha encouraged that each of them handled over to every people, whoever came around by the king himself or the queen or the royal family rather than king seating up there on the throne and throwing things down there, let the people grabbed. And Buddha recommended king will stand outside the door and handle over each and everyone gifts by the king, queen and the family members. So that’s what not only being generous but generous with respect to the people. It is not that I threw a handful of whatever or coins and you got them and grab it. Not in that way and Buddha recommended it is done by respect. So, whatever you have actually created and can offer. That is great we have there. Actually what we can really give is very limited no matter how wealthy you might be. What you can really give is very limited. No matter how much it may be, is very limited because what we are looking for is tremendous amount of merit. What we are hoping to gain, you know the results of generosity is the sky treasure. Sky treasure, you read Hindu, Buddhist mythological or earlier history or something, you are going to find everywhere, treasure vase under the ground, blah, blah, blah, happened and they become more wealthy than kings, blah, blah, blah all of them. You going to hear all these Tara stories too. These are what we call it sky treasures. Sky treasures is your own created, you have earned it. You have earned it by the act of generosity that you give. And so whatever, how wealthy you might be, whatever you could give is nothing. Besides, one more important point. The value that you give is something different. Value of gift from an individual who can afford to give, thousand dollars and who cannot afford to give but for one poor person for one dollar. Value will be the same. Maybe one dollar has more. That person gets more, from the merit point of view. That is very important to remember. (1.09:55) That doesn’t mean you have to go beyond your means to be generous because we live in 2005. We are not living in 1675, in England or something. I am sorry, we are not living in 1675 in India or Tibet. So that means you have to be very generous. Generosity has to be one quality. If you think I give this now I get later. Wasted. Better not give. Better not give. Maybe in deep of mind, you may have it. But it is ( Rimpoche talked in Tibetan). This is something very important. When you give you are not looking for something in return. You are not looking for that person will help you later, that type of thing. That is you have strings attached. I have been wondering when Gandhi in India always giving lectures and lectures. He said I welcome all the help but I prefer trade rather than aid or something. I never understood but that’s what he really meant. I used to worked in All India radio and when you walked the steps on the door, there was Gandhi’s quote “ I prefer trade for aid or something” There was another one, I accept no aid with strings attached, something like that. So, everywhere. That’s what it is. That’s not becomes generosity. That becomes purpose of our own and many of our things are set up in such a way. And becomes, I don’t know whether it becomes generosity or becomes something else. Such as World bank, all of those. You know what happens. Generosity has to be totally no attachment. No strings attached. Purely no hesitation. Just give.

Then next is what? Mentally created. I didn’t explain that. Mentality created, that is definitely, even if you give one dollar, you may think I am giving you multi million dollars through mental capacity. I wrote in that protector’s offering in Jewel Heart. What did I say? ( Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan). That means offering of torma . ( Rimpoche talked in Tibetan again). Offering of torma that is something to eat and the endless nectar, something to drink. (Rimpoche talked in Tibetan again). Every existence space that I filled up, I offer you. By your power you may accept.( Rimpoche talked in Tibetan again). By your power you may accept. We can mentally imagine. And they have the capability of taking as we mentally giving. So therefore these are some kind of little treats. That one tiny little thing can be able to make it possible, better here and there. That is the thing you can do.

Then the next is purification which I explained last night. Or was it yesterday or last night. Somewhere I did, right? So therefore I do not need to repeat. Then what comes? Rejoice. One of our biggest problem is jealousy. I mean there are lots of bigger problems but jealousy is one big thing which destroys a lot of easy things. You hear somebody did great and great, great, great, great, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful but. So you get a lot of those buts. So that is the destruction, but. What happens is if you rejoice, (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan). Especially if you rejoice, whatever great thing you did before whether other people accept or not it doesn’t matter. Lot of people said, I did a great thing, people forgot about it. People don’t acknowledge. Doesn’t matter. What matters is you acknowledge, you did right. And you rejoice and you going to get benefit of doing it all over again. Because it is your act. Continuously you may did one good thing you can continuously catching it by rejoicing it. Honestly. That’s how karmic system works. Especially you rejoice great deeds of others. When in the past history, rejoice activities of the Buddha, rejoice activities of Jesus, rejoice activities of all these great beings. In the recent history, rejoice Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi, non violence. It is not a joke, something fantastic. Rejoice the activity of Dr Martin Luther King Junior. Rejoice activity of Mother Theresa. In our history living today, rejoice activities of His Holiness Dalai Lama. Rejoice activities of Nelson Mandala. Aung San Suu Kyi. And all those great beings around. In our lives, we rejoice we make them work. We get the benefit. Rejoice. That is the trick. At least half of it, whatever they get. That’s why rejoice becomes important. (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan.) Tiny little effort with the minimum effort, you can get maximum yield. (0.59:48) Minimum effort, maximum yield. Great investment with no risk of losing. No risk. Remember a few years ago, I talked in Italy about this and then a month later the same group invited me to. Those days I am not so busy and can go round the different groups. Went with the same group to Brazil. I saw T shirt already made- rejoice is the best investment without risk. And people were wearing the T shirt when I came in to Brazil. What happened was the group in Italy made the T shirt and put in Brazil, everybody wearing the T shirts. So funny. With the sign of Lama Marco Polo. Lama Marco Polo was Khanjay Rimpoche, the healer and he lived on the Marco Polo Street in Italy, so he called himself Lama Marco Polo. So, that’s what it is. I can’t call myself Lama Morgan Road. That might not be a good idea.

Anyway, then the next is what? Rejoice. Okay, request to remain is longevity practice. Everybody would like to have a good and healthy long life. No one wants to die tomorrow. No one want to get sick tomorrow, so that’s why you want a long and healthy. Request for enlightened beings remains is the cause for us to remain, have longevity and the health. Both.

And then the next is wise and compassionate teachings. Teaching is guidance, information. Information on which we can act and function, practice and obtain enlightenment. At the level where we are, we needed information here and there. Teaching doesn’t end until we become fully enlightened. Even the night of obtaining enlightenment you need final teaching. So that happens, that’s why we request teachings.

And dedication. I think I talked about dedication briefly last night. Therefore this is basically certainly select just for. Don’t think that Tibetans only have Seven Limbs four, five lines. Don’t. Those old practitioners who used to it. If you read into their daily prayers, the Seven Limbs will have fifty, hundred pages of Seven Limbs. Each one of them have ten, thirteen, fourteen pages. Pages. Even at medium level you look at the Lama Chopa, how much the prostration lines goes on. And then if you look at Ganden Lha Gyama, you have one shloka each. Right? Or Seven Limb, this one make it so simple and easy. Just one, Seven Limbs completely in that. Try to make it easy, simplified. But not losing the value of Buddhist teachings. No Buddhist teachers, good ones will ever lose the value of Buddha’s teachings at all, no matter how much it is simplified or modernized. However if someone who does not know what they are doing and some they do, then it becomes new age. Why don’t we have a cup pf coffee. That covers the Seven Limbs.

I just like to inform you but I might not be able to do it. Just like to inform you that each one of those paras has it’s own little meditations and mantra. OM TARE TUTARE TURE SOHA is the mantra in general they cover. Those of you who like to go in detail. And after the Seven Limbs you have to praise Tara. Each praise is one verse of this 21 Tara praise. Yesterday we did the first one. Today we should be doing the white, this particular Tara is (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan). And that is Homage to she whose face is make of one hundred autumn moons. This particular verse. And explanation is, here the translation say homage but the word in Tibetan is chak.tsal. It is called 21 chak.tsals. Chak.tsal which I explained to you, prostration. Chak.tsal , And I wanted to make clear again to the new ones because you have come here to spend time, you wanted to pick up something, so I cannot take for granted thinking that you know everything. So, again I am repeating word chak.tsal which is prostration. Prostrating is seeing the quality of you and seeking your quality. That’s the chak.tsal. Each one of them begins with the chak.tsal. So here the translation says homage. Right or wrong I can’t say. It is not for me. (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan) So to whom are you prostrating? I am prostrating to the Tara who looked like one hundred full moons put together. Just like such a wonderful thing. It’s value is almost like one hundred moons put together. And that sort of wonderfulness, it is extreme, I don’t want to say it, exaggeration. There is something called the poetry system. Poetry system is called rapta. Rapta means make it much bigger. Sort of gives you, if it is little exaggerated. But it is not exaggeration. She also had that value. Anyway, I don’t want to take so much time. So, the one who is pure who looks like one hundred moons put together. And also smiles just lie thousands of stars put together. One who is radiating wonderful light. Wonderful white light from your. What does that white light do? That white light purifies all negativities of my and all sentient beings. And particularly if you wanted to do for somebody. If you wanted to do for somebody, that somebody should be visualized along with you in front of that Tara. And that particular wonderful light that coming out of the body of Tara and particularly from the vase. Nectar comes out and purify that individual and of it’s negativities. Negative emotions, negative karma and all obstacles of life. Obstacles of spiritual development, obstacles of well being and obstacles of happiness, obstacles of peaceful. All of them purified. With this, you can say this verse and then go OM TARE TUTARE SOHA. (0.48: 07)

Can we change to the next one, the yellow this time. It is in order now. The next one is. You can leave those Taras. You may be thinking what am I going to do with those Taras. There are two ways. Two, very ritualistic way of them and you dissolve them and all these. But even if you forget, it is fine. You can remember 1 plus 1 and 1 plus 20, that’s fine. They can all seat there. You can’t that’s’ also fine and let it go. But don’t be like the bear catching. Oh, groundhog, ya. What did you say? I guess I always saying ground hog. That is something new for me to learn. We all learn, that’s good. I also learnt here. So the story is, the bear went to the ground hog’s house, the place, He think , now I have a lot to eat. So, catch one and snapped one and put under his butt and he seat there and he thinks he is keeping them and then keep on catch another one. That one ran away. So you can’t do that. Other than that what you are saying if you forget about it and maybe you, it’s okay for the beginning people. And that’s okay. And then you know why it’s okay? It’s okay and then at the end of it you suddenly want to remember all 21. Yes fine. Certainly. Because the limitations is our limitations. Not their limitations. And that’s one.

So, the next one is very similar. In front of us, now is most important Tara in this moment. If you keep on moving, that’s fine, just like we moved the slides. So right in front of you, Tara, what you really wanted to hear is the longevity. This particular. Oh, no, no, no. This is third right? This one is not only the longevity but wealth as well. And if you doing it individually or collectively. If you don’t want to say this Tara’s praise and go through, that also fine. But what I am trying to introduce is individually. So every prerequisite like refuge, generating bodhimind, and each and everyone of them are recommended. Do it separately, by the many great teachers and when you say these 21 praise and then we say these 21 praise together and no monasteries I ever seen unless you perform the rituals. Done this thing in between. But when we giving you this information we have to give you where it is. If I don’t do it, I will be failing. So, that’s why. (0.43:33)

But I don’t have to go detail, refuge, generating bodhimind, four immeasurables, everything as it is. Then space before us the Tara, golden one, one face. Two hands, same gesture and holding a vae. This vase has a particular power for longevity, power. Power, really power and wealth. So, other that that, everything is same. Praise here is the third praise. (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan) Right, this translation is correct. Golden blue one. And when I was looking at the first Pachen Lama’s ritual, he forgot the blue. He had the golden one and this verse has a golden blue one. What is golden blue one? Does the gold gets tarnished blue? Joking? I am sorry. This is bad joke. This may create negativity, I am sorry. It is a bad joke, sorry. Golden blue. Golden blue, yes but not a tarnished gold. Gold doesn’t get tarnished. So, you doing prostration. Prostration to whom? That Tara whose body is a beautiful gold yet slightly blueish in it. One who is holding the lotus in hand and. This particular Tara’s lotus opening is giving us couple of messages. Message one, to be a well being. The cause of well being, generosity, enthusiasm, morality and wisdom that overpowers ignorance. Patience and concentration. Actually six paramittas between the order instead of normal generosity, morality, patience. It goes on generosity, enthusiasm, morality and wisdom, patience and concentration. (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan) You are the embodiment of perfections of all of beings. And that is that praise. And during the mantra saying period. During the mantra saying seven limb praise. During the mantra saying period, light radiated from this Tara. Golden light and yourself and particularly if you are doing for any specific person, or all living sentient beings, reached to them and at the end, at the tip of each light. Zillions of light rays comes out and at each of lasers, each golden one remains on each, carrying the vase and pouring the water, actually purifying. So this particular pouring water not only washes the outer but inner as well as secret. And all of them becomes like a gold. Gold represents perfection. Becomes perfect. Plenty of longevity and wealth emanate. You can also say OM TARE TUTARE TURE SOHA or you can say OM TARE TUTARE TURE PUSHTIM KURU SOHA if you want to. And every time whenever you do this activity you always have to think you have achieve, it has done. Don’t think whether it is done or not done. Whether is done or not done, doesn’t matter. If you keep on putting efforts one day it will be done. But at that moment you have to think it is been done. It is some kind of omens there. That is the third one. Can we have the next one. (0.36:57)

Fourth one. This again is yellow. This yellow, one face, two hands, again holding a yellow vase, just like the above one. Seven Limbs etc, prerequisites are just like that and in this case, the praise is (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan), Fourth one. You are doing prostrations. Prostrated to whom? The mother of all enlightened beings. Tara is mother of all enlightened beings. In this case Ushnisha. Ushnisha is carrying on the head of Tara. So you can see a little extra thing over there. In the picture it is not very clear but there is a little Ushnisha Namgyalma is on the crown. So the mother of all, yourself and the mother of all enlightened beings, the Namgyalma on your ushninsha. And the one who, why call Vijaya? Vijaya is victory. Victory over all obstacles, whoever doing, whatever wrong. And that’s why victory. And why it is called Usni Nisuar , forehead, over here. Why? Because all the Bodhisattvas gives them highest respect and that’s why they carry the name of Ushi. Vijaya, victory. So that is the fourth Tara. Same mantra, if you want to you can add up TARE TUTARE AYUR JHANA PUSHTIM KURU SOHA. AYU is light. Mama Ayu Budi Tara, the long one in the White Tara. It really shows you everything is included in that. So, TARE TUTARE AYUR JHANA PUSHTIM KURU SOHA if you want to. Otherwise OM TARE TUTARE TURE is fine.

Now the fifth one. Is wrathful one. Red, wrathful one. Wrathful and well, not very wrathful, that’s fine. So in this posture you can’t be open mouth, sticking things. Can’t be, So it is slightly wrathful. She is known as one who make the sound of HUM. She had the peaceful, attachment, you know the red. Red is the colour of attachment. Colour of love too. Anyway she shows you that along with the slightly wrathful. In her, she is carrying vase that attract everybody, drawing everybody’s attention. Drawing everybody’s attention. And praise is the fifth one. (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan) So chak sel, I prostrate to you, one who says TUTARA , that means with letter HUM. It is also called the sounding of HUM and what does that mean? The HUM sound indicates wisdom and essence of wisdom is compassion. Not only it is just through wisdom. Essence of wisdom because that is HUM. OM AH HUM. That Hum, same thing. I said HUM , in the west they say HUNG. Because it is HUM. HUM is the union. Join together. Whether it is body, mind or male, female, or wisdom, compassion, or clear light, which I explained earlier and illusion body but it is the union. Union is nature of love. Yet it comes out of a void, emptiness. So the combination of emptiness and compassion, which means essence of emptiness is compassion. This is what it is showing that. That’s why HUM is saying. Not only that, the sound of HUM helps ease the suffering of people in the hell realm, hungry ghost realm as well as the animal realm. Human realm and samsaric gods. These are the five different groups in the desire realm. Why call desire realm? We are dictated by desires. Everything, whatever we do, it is desire that pushes in this realm. We are. The humans, the hungry ghosts, the hell realms and all of those. Five of them. Another words, hell, heaven and earth is controlled by desires. That’s why it is called desire realm. And beyond that heaven there is form and formless etc. (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan) I have to count this because it is seven word or something, right? I didn’t read the translation. Should say seven words. These are the seven words. Five desire realms plus form and formless. Make seven words. So, what she can do. She can, sound of HUM can pacify and purify and ease sufferings of people in these realms. In case the peaceful points are not accepted, she can step on it and put her foot on it. She can shift whole seven worlds together. She has that capability too but not necessarily she wanted to do it. The first comes first. The letter Hum pacifies but if it does not, she has capability to be able to do that. So you can visualize whatever you want to achieve over here and particularly if you have difficulties of your own and people with you. Yourself and people with you. Particularly harming you. Somebody mean to you, Somebody mean to somebody. And if you want help that person to get rid of that meanness, you can visualize this Tara goes and say Hummmm. And that HUM gets so strong, in the inner ears, inside the ears of that particular person, he gives up or let that person go the meanness. And let’s not hope that Tara will step over. That’s that. And then the next, there are wrathfulness there but not far, okay? (0.25:36)

Then next is sixth, right? This is red and slightly dark. Slightly wrathful. Perching eyes are there. That indicates something else. Remember yesterday we have been saying long tiny eyes and that indicates love, sweet and all these. Today, slightly wrathful here with the boom coming out. Anyway, that is sixth one. And this is called victory over three realms. And just like this ushnisha victory but slightly more wrathful than ushnisha. And since it is wrathful, slightly, the face also carries a drink. Drink that only make you drunk and give you very high. And when you are high then you can do anything you want, as you know. What you know in six days? You already know now. So, (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan). You may be wondering why is he reading the Tibetan, we don’t have that. You know what that do? It gives you the transmission. Without reading you don’t get the transmission. Ao that’s why I am reading it. And you may be thinking why don’t he read in English? Because I don’t know how to read it. I don’t want to make a fool of myself. Honest statement. Anyway, bring it the number six. I should have , One, two, three, four, five, six. We have homage. Homage to she who receive the offering of Indra. So chak.tsal. Whom are you prostrating? I am prostrating to great Tara who the great beings such as Indra, Bhrama, higher gods, air god and all these different powers in this Hindu/Buddhist mythological world, all of them are praising and prostrating. And that’s what it is. And that one I am prostrating to, that one. And same. Don’t forget Seven Limbs, don’t forget this is a praise. Then during the mantra what you visualize is from the mantra mala. Now this needs explanation. I did not explain you mantra mala. Mantra mala is at your heart level. You know OM AH HUM that I told you earlier. Clear? That will do. Letter HUM at heart level of the Tara, always they have OM AH HUM. And normally OM TARE TUTARE TURE SOHA is everywhere, each one of those Taras. And since it doesn’t say here, doesn’t say there and did not get out any activity until now, so I did not explain. Each one of them has a mantra. If you cannot imaging mantra, letter HUM will do. And there is also, to confuse you more, sometimes the HUM can become TAM, TAM can becomes HUM. That is to make you more confused. We have to be fair to our new friends. This HUM representing enlightenment in the mind and the Tara’s seed syllable is TAM. They are interchangeable. Or it remains within. These are the things we take for granted sometimes. It goes without saying. I cannot do that. I am learning that. So it is interchangeable. So seed syllable means like more than initial. Hand implements are for the yidams, which I explained. Hand implements are their initials. Seed syllable really means, the signs of life. So it is more powerful, important than initials. From the heart level where the mantra is and from that mantra radiating fire light. Fire coloured light. Radiate everywhere and all these evil spirits, all. Number one, this evil business, external evil business is very questionable. Yet you cannot completely rule out. Ruled out because they are some. You cannot rule out ghosts there. There are ghosts. Ghosts sometimes around us seeking help. Most of the ghosts are not coming here to hurt us. Most of them there to seeking help. Sometimes, one time the Jewel Heart in Ann Arbor, many years ago organized a picnic. We took a tent and went somewhere and we had a most powerful storm that started that night. A lot of people lost their tents because of the storm but finally we managed to sleep somewhere. Everybody, almost everybody had a terrible dream that night. And I couldn’t, had a most horrible dream. Sort of war going on. I enquired and then somebody this is called Battle Quick and where they had battle with native Americans and were killed on this particular spot where we put the tents there. So, that happens and I am very sure it is very far from there or not. And sometimes we also have interested dreams coming here too. I am sure many of you experienced, I do. Which is implications that they are seeking help. Help me, help me. And they showing their sufferings what they are going through. Not necessarily telling us, you going to be having that difficulty, their experience and suffering and their saying , great you are here, help us, that’s what they are doing. And they are objects of compassion. They are objects of generosity. Generosity of love, generosity of affection. Generosity of dharma. When you are talking about dharma here, when you are saying your prayers and when you are dedicating for the benefit of all sentient beings and is really become a great treat for them. Better than chalk. Great treat for them. Anyway and so. This is number six, right? In case if they are within all these thing, there are some mean spirits here and there, little bit. And some are quite powerful and many times in history, a spiritual practitioner, they do sometimes gets obstructed by the evil spirits. It is not only the Asian culture and religion alone but you are very familiar with this and look at one. Very specific in the western culture. You may look very specific, somebody called devil. There are a lot of spirits like this, beings not good ones. And all of them, all of those spirits are controlled for, under the control of ten directional protectors. So when they said, (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan). Is that the one? Seven? (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan). So it is the, page changed. At the bottom of page? Okay. She who received offerings from Indra, is the worldly god, Agni is fire god, Bhrama is, Vayu is air god, Iswara is the king of smell eater, lord of the world and ? , all of those, anyway. All of them are under the control of ten directional protectors. What do they control? They don’t control, they don’t overpower them , doesn’t say control, behave you. They don’t do that. How they control is that they make their minds, their hatred, try to transform, change them into compassion. Their negativities, sometimes they are purified through burning, purifying and all of those and this particular Tara does this job. And for those who cannot be controlled by the peaceful ones, she collects them with her power of air and collects them together, put in the air mandala and put on top of camel and send beyond the ocean. Read here. This is a traditional thing, so that is visualization too. So in case peacefully they don’t listen to you, let them go. Some times you do have that difficulties. Sometimes, peacefully you try to negotiate, they don’t listen, you can do nothing, let people go. Sadly that’s what it is. Even, put on the air mandala , camel, I don’t know why camel. Why camel? I tell you why. Early Indian, I think Bhimshila? and Nalanda area, I don’t know why and that, and very definitely in Tibet, camel is considered an inauspicious sign. In Tibet don’t have any camel at all. Though there is a lot of dry area, no camel at all. So the historical tale tells us Tibet considers camel is bad omen and all kicked them out. Out of Tibet and the Moguls had welcomed the camels. During the teachings in Tibet they said (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan), inauspicious been transformed into welcoming thing and then they tell you, do like the Moguls do. (0.8:14) So what happening is the tail tells us. Tibetans considers the camel is bad omen, kicked out of Tibet, Moguls had welcomed them and made the best use of them in the desert. That’s probably why camel. Can be anything else but camel. So, must be that reason. And the same mantra but if you want to do the wrathful mantra since you have, but not necessary. And in your visualizations, any spirits that wanted to harm you, you have pacified them, you have control of their, sort of, negativities. But if you cannot, you kick them out away. Send them away, they are not sentient beings. Joking. So it goes against the advices of bodhimind. It is. You may be send them away temporarily, not forever. Buddhist rituals have the best way to send to behind ocean. So, from India side, also this side. And now we are here to clean up those.

Okay, next is seventh Tara. It is black wrathful one. Is that suppose to be black or chocolate? Incidentally, I am sorry, I shouldn’t say this, looks like chocolate. But there is really a chocolate Tara which I personally did not like at all. Really believe, you have to eat Tara for what? That is not right. And there is a chocolate Buddha, chocolate Jesus. Who going to eat all these? I personally don’t like it. And I think we create negativities by creating these. Admiring it also. Create negativities. Some times, unknowingly. Innocent activities does create negativities. And I do remember in India they used to make head of Buddha as a door knob, a big door knob and somewhere, the nose or something they put a knob, you can go on bang, bang, bang, doing this. They made that and I do remember Bakula Rimpoche in Dehli with tears and giving a lecture and started beating a moment of boycott against that company. He was really in tears, and started beating the administration and round the headquarters of that company. In India he collect the people. He had a hundred thousand people seating round the company for seven days. Day and night, no one getting out from the company, no one letting go in. He was a member of Parliament. I went there too. So we had that and now Bakula Rimpoche not here. So at least I should voice it. Personally I don’t like it. And I don’t think. It is funny but not a good way of funny. It is a bad way of funny. I think we create unnecessary way of negativities. Okay, what happened, camel? Camel is gone. And now the next one is the wrathful one. Oh yes, that was chocolate. That’s where it went from. Seventh. I am going to finish seventh no matter what. The seventh one is very similar, nothing different except the praise differs. (Rimpoche spoke in Tibetan). I prostrate to whom? Who says Phat, who produce the sound of Phat from the mouth. Phat really is, in Sanskrit it becomes is cut. Phat is a threatening sound. So she who produce a threatening sound which destroys all black magic made against people and individuals. And every black magic powers are completely destroyed by the sound who seats just like a Tara posture. And under your feet you have a representing the black magic creator, transformed into compassion and emptiness. You are standing the wisdom fire burning out of your body. And that fire also burns all black magic power just like fire burns the feather of a bird. And this all 2600 years old, so the black magic, evil spirit is a large obstacle there, that time. So that’s why you have that. And before I go for lunch I think there are some announcements. Thank you
