<<< Notes to SRK: New style: When Dragon starts to goof up train for 15 make a list of all words missed then teach them first and save next session. Last one took some 36 days to finish end to end. Try to beat that by increasing accuracy. Track start date and finish date for intimal dictation, correction, and titling.. <<< Setting Motivation 000054 so do kindly generate a pure motivation of a bodhimind at least for the benefit of all living beings I would like to obtain the ultimate Buddhahood for which I would like to not only listen to this teaching and learn and whatever I learn learn more and whatever more I learn all of them I will try to practice so that I can I will be able to become fully enlightened Buddha within this lifetime within this lifetime first quick and second quick will be not only within this lifetime but also within the very short time one would like to be able to obtain with this mind and also the generating with this mind and do kindly listen and the teaching what you’re going to listen is also is the eight quality and the great quality of a teachings of a Buddha is not contradicting each other 000245 Lam Rim every teaching of the Buddha is transmission for one individual to obtain enlightenment by learning this I can understand the real intended meaning of all Buddha’s teachings and most important it cuts down my negativity wrong way of functioning my negativity it cuts down with such a quality of teaching called Lam Rim and for which we have a basic two outlines talking about lineage masters and stages and order stages and their order first I think that was over then the second is after understanding that training of oneself through the path and that also has root of all development guru devotional practice after which how does one train one’s mind 000431 Preparing the area Root of all development guru devotional practice also has actual session and in between session in actual session it has prerequisite actual session itself and the conclusion prerequisite is the six preliminaries we call it six prerequisites and that is cleansing of not only yourself but also the place where you are meditating you may think if I am in the retreat it’s not dirty I don’t have to clean second day yes you do yes you do you have to clean first day you have to clean second day you have to clean third day you have to clean every day morning chore is much longer than what you think it is and you don’t have to re-organize your altar physically however your visualization you have to have it that is every day visualization you have to (stretch?) 000603 and for refuge you have to have a Buddha in front of you Buddha Shakymuni sitting on the throne and that’s what you have to do every day and then offerings yes I offered yesterday it all looked good today so I don’t want to re-do it the water yes you have to take out every evening dry wash the bowl and clean it and then offer every morning back flowers you don’t may not have to but take it out set up a little bit better and then do that everyday and any other if you are in the retreat like Vajrayogini or any of that type then certain things you’re not supposed to touch those offerings and that is exceptional case for Lam rim practitioners refuge retreat yes you have to 000714 do it every day you have to have offering you may add a few more fresh flowers or something and because you say oh it looks good let it be that won’t do incense also unless you have those smoke alarms that makes noise in that case you may just leave it incense there don’t burn it or if you are allergic and then you don’t have to other than that incense yes incense is actually smell and so what the whole purpose is when you are inviting Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in your place and you don’t want them having that sleep smell or the smell of your derriere or you know or whatever and the passing of gas and so you have to cover that smell with the soothing smell so what ever is suitable for the individuals so that’s what the soothing smell and remember cleansing is also link up with the environmental awareness not only environmental awareness environmentally correct so the smell is something you know individual have preference and so according to that certain people are totally free of fragrance certain people love fragrance so in your home you are the king you are the queen so you do whatever you do in gatherings you have to remember other people so you have to think about it anyone who is allergic and getting sick or anything and in that try to avoid then offerings sitting your self on the nice comfortable cushion if you are in retreat the Vajrayana it is recommended books will recommend have a Vajra under your cushion which is cross Vajra but cross Vajra is a hand implement of deities hand implement of deity is a signature of deity signature of a deity is a deity so therefore Vajra and lotus and things like that are no different than the deity itself similarly those Vajra notes that we give you sometimes those are all deity so we don’t want to sit on top of that and that is why it is recommended you have swastika drawn swastika in the Dharma style not the other way in the Dharma style so but that is recommended but that is if you are in the retreat if you are in the refuge retreat or Migsema retreat you may not have to do it 001106 but if you are doing like Vajrayogini Yamentaka and that type of retreat you have to do it so Den dah wala..... this style of Buddha Varochana’s eight style of sitting and comfortable keeping everything else as comfortable as possible and then generating the most important virtuous mind and that is generating a Bodhimind for the benefit of all living beings I would like to obtain ultimate Buddhahood within this lifetime within the short time for which I would like to practice the stage of development in the Sutra and in the Tantra both so that’s what you do generating that and then refuge refuge looking at the Buddha and then Buddha’s body is a Sangha Buddha’s mind is Buddha Buddha’s speech is Dharma and a collection of all Buddha all Dharma all Sangha represented by great Buddha Shakymuni and which is also the most important guru so Namu Gurube, Namu Buddaya, Namu Dharmaya, Namu Sangaya and also generating if you need to regenerate bodhimind again if you don’t need to then move to the four immeasurables May all sentient beings be free of suffering and the cause of suffering May all sentient beings never separated from the joy that has never known suffering and May all sentient beings remain in joy and happiness all the time may sentient beings be all sentient beings be remain equanimity and so all these four immeasurables and then invocation of Buddha and seven limb offerings seven limb the first prostrations again offerings offerings also not very small a huge even your room may be very limited the walls may be very limited but in your visualizations the wall doesn’t have to be limited huge space and space going beyond the walls so space and then object of refuge is our right in the,,, in between that I forgot the generating the.... I’m jumping from the refuge to this and generating a supreme field of merit supreme field of merit is you know supreme field of merit is in reality my own root master in the form of Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chang 001505 Describing the Field of Merit Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chang sitting in this huge wonderful jeweled tree and that tree is you know it’s sort of centers are you know each one of them have a Lotus cushion the Lotus cushion are higher it’s going smaller 001526 lower it is huge it is going smaller smaller so that you have extra petals left and then go up up on the top Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chang in the form of a saffron colored three (vowed?) monk form in reality your own root master at his heart level Lama Buddha Shakymuni at his heart level Lama Dorje Chang the Vajradhara that is three beings together and above the Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chang you have this Nem nay cher.... the practice blessing masters one thing in Lama Chopa drawings you will see all the Manjushris and all these Manjushris and is it the Yamentaka or something you see three different lives in there but Manjushris is the Mahamudra lineage and Yamentaka is the father tantra and or may be the Gue ee sam ajah the mother Tantra lineages are supposed to be in the drawings but in our normal visualizations is it Yah men chell..... That is Buddha Vajradhara is surrounded by the lineage masters at the right Buddha Maitreya surrounded by the compassion lineages at the left Buddha Manjushri surrounded by the wisdom lineage in front your own root master surrounded by other gurus from whom I have received teachings they are actual living beings at the right pedal you have Yamentaka at the left pedal you have Heruka in the front you have Goyahsamaja they are all together below that you have all these Mahayana yoga tantra yidams below that you have all four different tantra’s yidams below that you have Buddhas below that you have Bodhisattvas below that you have Arhats below that you have Dakas and the Dakinis below that you have dharmapalas Dharma protectors and that is our the field of merit so each one of them you may not be able to remember if you started looking at one within the Bodhisattvas if you’re going to look Avalokiteshvara you can find it if you’re going to look for 1000 (Avalokiteshvara?) you’re going to find it 001838 four of Avalokiteshvara you going to find it if you are going to look for Manjushri you’re going to find it if you are going to look for Vajrapani you are going to find it however in general it’s all there you don’t have to go but if you are looking for specifically you can find it that is how even though Heruka yab yum we put it on this pedal at the left hand side of the Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chang but if you’re looking for Vajrayogini specifically alone you are going to find it within the first pedal underneath that that is how one should visualize because you try to visualize each and every thing and I think it will be almost impossible very few people maybe Philip Glass can think that I think he really gets somehow if there is somebody that is missing and always having that so other than that I am not sure anybody else really gets everything else may be years and years maybe Philip has been 30 - 40 years that is probably why but the only thing is he sees because of he is a musician he sees the thing even the Yamentaka Mandala if one millimeter wrong he notice that’s very strange in his mind so he’s not here so we can talk (audience laughs) I mean he doesn’t listen to the tapes anyway he doesn’t listen (?) Sorry 002020 So that is what happens so very detailed it difficult okay don’t worry about it so sort of think it’s there whenever you move to Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje keep that clean and then you know three beings keep that clean and that is your field of merit invocation Fal lue sim....so I jumped from the refuge into this so then seven lamp and finally if you are combined with the Lama Chopa practice and then this Cherha lama cherna yidam.. You are the guru you are the yidam you are the Cherna Lama cherna Yidam... you are the Dakini Daka whatever and that verse and if you are Lam Rim alone and then you do this Koo shee dah.. 002130 The Lama (Habahlah?) who is the I mean like a traditional Indian culture God of God the best of the best you know sort of thing there that is the way the traditional Indian culture influences so King of King God of God that is Indian culture they say if you go and look all those Indian early kings palaces and then they have those light show they will try to make it like the traditional how it go they blow the trumpet and then they say King of King God of God the Maharashtra so-and-so is now coming (?) (Rimpoche laughs) so that shows the Indian culture so I think probably Tibetans picked it up that Indian culture so you have the lama Hah bill lah.... God of God King of Kings all this business the Tuwang Dorje Chan so whether you are God of God or King of Kings or whatever it is but it’s the ultimate object of refuge so living living life living and then you are invited they came become oneness you know all this zow pow business and if you’re with the Lama Chopa then you can do this Chern nah... then they ask him to remain and stay Turn tzo... I don’t remember the translation but inviting and staying and then seven lamp including ultimate Lama Jowa sha jah... Lama Giowa the conqueror the Shakyatooba I am prostrating Cher doz I make offerings Dep yah choo I take refuge to you Om muni muni maha muniyeh soha then dedicate then well you remembering the field of merit then Jem nay koo. The collection of all refuge 002427 Tuwang Dorje Chang...the Buddha. the Buddha Vajradhara and offering my supplications and with this mind then first actual meditation on guru devotional practice 002455 looking at the guru and as we talked yesterday finally drawing conclusion it is actual living Buddha that Buddhas and Bodhisattvas of millions that they have come past have reappeared for me for me and me only to guide me to help me in the normal human being form but as I see in the physical form of Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chan all negativities in general and particularly guru devotional practice obstacles seeing the fault not only appearing the fault but perceiving it as true all of them all purified from the light that is coming from Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chan’s body and the body of all supreme field of merit purify completely completely out of my body stream and my mind stream completely purified I become pure I and all mother sentient beings become completely pure we remain under the protection of Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chan and then without breaking we can move to the second outline after guru devotional practice and how to training of our mind first asking to move to the second outline which begins with the embracing the human life knowing recognizing the present life that is important important not only important to be alive in material world but also it is very important to be in life in the spiritual world particularly life that has a tremendous amount of opportunity rich in the opportunity from the time point of view from the availability point of view from the environmental point of view from the life itself point of view from our mind point of view from every point of view this is rich it is wonderful it is full of opportunity and if I wasted this by doing something crazy altering my mind through chemically torturing my physical body through different ways I am totally crazy also if I waste my life all activities of meaningless all the activities that does not benefit me neither for my livelihood nor for my spiritual path these are the waste that how I waste my life even my livelihood whatever the wrong livelihood that what we now know we have mentioned during the mind and mental faculty teachings all different wrong livelihoods in general and particularly that close for spiritual practitioners are very close to get in all five of them and in general wrongdoing anything unfair anything deceived anything any of that type even it is physically appearing as a benefit but visibly appearing as a profit but it is the wrong livelihood so which is wasting my life wasting my opportunity wasting my precious life as well as useless meaningless excitements useless and meaningless tedious works all of them are wasting my life so I must be free because this life is extremely precious not only it is precious it is very difficult to find precious we look in different lives that we see around us let’s forget about it what is in close circle in third kind 003154 Other life forms but let us see what we see the lives with us the beautiful bird’s life the beautiful animal’s life we see all this and we see horrifying insect’s life and all of those and compare that with my life what a difference beautiful ghost life or horrifying ghost life compare with my life how wonderful it is if you have time compare it with six realms the hell realm the animal the hungry ghost the human life also wasting useless all their lives people that are wasting their life with a drug addiction number one example number two example people who are extremely engaged in the total busy life have not time to think people who lose their life at the young age in the war in Iraq or elsewhere compare with those lives and your life how wonderful our life is normal American expression is how blessed we are it is up to us whether we waste that or take advantage (twice?) is ours nobody else I guarantee you there is no God standing here and already pushing in this way and that way that’s not God’s job they don’t the choice is ours and ours only and we do have such an opportunity to reach Buddhahood if this is not rich in opportunity what it is I have no idea or you don’t want to go into the spiritual path and going to go in the material Bill Gates was also human being I was told so we have the same opportunity same opportunity same mind same capability condition how he may be able to manipulate and manage its different so he been able to do this he be able to become Bill Gates so the life’s point of view you can do anything you want its there so it is choice is ours however the way you want to choose you want to choose to be good spiritual practitioner and reasonably good in the material world that is in my opinion that is a good choice one cannot do without spiritual practice honestly one cannot because always something goes wrong so in the spiritual practice you can go up to becoming Buddha included not up to but Buddha become Buddha is included in our opportunity because a number of particularly Buddha himself went through he shared his experience with us there is a continuation of lineage a living tradition and there is a great Mahayana path compassion Bodhimind is there there is a great wisdom oriented Vajrayana practice is there there is so much it is right in front of us so much and that’s why it is rich in opportunity 003738 Human capabilities capabilities with us even we are handicapped physically but even then we are capable we are very much capable as long as our mind is not disturbed we are capable understanding communication basic because of the human mind has such a capacity and as long as you don’t alter your mind of communication and understanding if you can maintain that even you are physically totally handicapped no arms no legs nothing even then you can obtain the enlightenment like within the Vajrayogini lineage if you look at this Barochugdum Barochogdum is is a Barowa who is a (pimp?) in Nepal and so the Nepalese kings punish him all the time so every time punishment he started losing fingers, arms and legs and everything so finally he is armless legless a little lump there you know so he becomes Barochogdum so even then he could become on that much level so that is the human life we have even we are handicapped but we are not little aches and pains everybody have it so what a big deal what a big deal because it is contaminated body got to be ache got to be pain otherwise it is uncontaminated body which is not contamination has all kinds of consequences that at least we have pains here so that is not that big deal so anyway we have the opportunity such enrich and if we don’t take advantage to get to hope to get a similar life again is hope against hope that is a little difficult while it is in our hand we have to make best use of it what better than meditating through the three stages common with the lower common with the medium and the Mahayana and that of Mahayana Sutra and Mahayana tantra such a great opportunity for us honestly honestly when you look back how sad I wasted 70 years of my life so if you look in the future whatever is there a few more years to live and that has to be worthwhile that is how I think and each one of you should think the past how much we wasted from now on I should do because you never can think of whole life in front of me I have 40 years 50 years to live you can’t think that way if you do and then you will be feeding the laziness you will not be feeding enthusiasm you will be feeding the laziness it is also not true you never know 004152 When you die how impermanent our life is you know how fragile our physical body is we talked yesterday Koo nan jan bay an concluded here whether the tomorrow going to come first or so-called next life it’s going to come first one never knows next life is much more for sure even tomorrow comes it’s a short one so we have to put all our efforts for the future lives because when you die you don’t carry our material life these are meditations okay when you die we don’t carry we don’t carry anything honestly no identity card no drivers license no credit card not even a shirt or even underwear not even this body which we are born together when I was born my body came out and then people told me that I was born right but when I die I leave my body and I go I go so it is like a pulling a thread out of knitted material life goes when life goes I’m going whatever is left there including my body everything the beautiful hair (Rimpoche laughs) don’t have it honestly the wonderful look the perfectly fit physical body tall thin slim whatever whatever the physical body may be half the body is leg the other half is neck all of them all our what we say are so precious our physical bodies are organs including heart our brain everything there after this very body is just like another rock or pebble or mud or it’s almost like another like statue or something very similar to that that is how ultimately we go and that is bound to happen within 100 years all of us are gone no matter how young you may be today you may be 10, 20 whatever you are within 100 years all gone all gone the buildings goes the groups goes the people goes everything everything the big monuments look filthy dirty rundown maybe a few punks are driving old cars around like we see in the movies sometimes right maybe (whole goes?) 004714 How Tibet changed when Rimpoche returned (impermance) So even they did not run down changed completely completely changed doesn’t take a long time 47 years after I went back to Tibet don’t recognize anything except monastery the monastery is somehow is become permanent looks the same thing more cleaner than used to be otherwise the streets the roads there everything there you turn the other side you think that is there oh its there so otherwise beside that everything even the mountains look different the rivers look different I don’t know what happened to it but you know maybe your memory gets altered so doesn’t really oh they all become so small much smaller I thought I used to think the Drepung’s General Assembly Hall is so huge and that courtyard is so huge it’s not when you park our buses there and the (?) There they’re not that big so I used to think it was the whole world there and Chanting masters used to brag when they started making that big noise from the steps and they say it can hear the mountain top of the East and West probably its true it’s not that big (Rimpoche laughs) and then of course no other noise so there must be must be (egg?) Or two so probably it’s true so they are smaller other than that that is how it changes right how it changes all different no one you recognize very few one or two which looks like you have seen before and so you ask him and he will say well I was that little kid here and there and then the old ones who are there one or two so you have to be introduced this is so and so or you don’t see them so this is how change take place in our life even though death did not interfere interfere that’s what it is so it is never the same it changes not only it changes it changes every minute of it every minute of it so impermanent 005028 so the precious life rich in opportunity life is not permanent not permanent it is impermanent so why should my goal be something to make this life rich 005118 In terms of money in terms of wealth in terms of anything yes I have to have comfortable wonderful not dependent on others have such a living but beyond that would do I do (will it?) be a waste of my time and if I can make a difference if I can reach to the third level of a path of seeing within my lifetime then I am okay but if I have the opportunity to be able to reach there that’s good if not in emergency cases what do I do I take refuge in Buddha Dharma and Sangha in Buddha Dharma and Sangha and Buddha Dharma and Sangha keeps me refuge but advises me the positive and the negative advises positive advices is to build any virtues whatever I can negative advices avoid any non-virtuous negativities as much as I can actually Buddha himself said no negativity build all positive deeds tame your mind and this is Buddhism so this is the advice after taking refuge simple reason when I die I take nothing with me except my positive and negative karma I totally depend now now at this moment this very living meditative moment I have control in my hand what I’m going to do now and what type of life I wanted for me but at the time when I die when I am completely separated from my physical even consciousness or whatever within that level I have no choice no control I am totally depend on my karma what type of life that Karma pushes me it also very much depends on what do I do during my life especially at the time of death the last minute of my mind because a positive brings positive negative brings negative death itself is very neutral state not so much awareness is going through is going through a period of darkness and where it’s going to come out is very much depends on the mind immediate before that one goes into that neutral darkness period darkness is symbolic in the sense you see nothing hear nothing it is that way but in neutral extremely subtle state neither virtue nor non-virtue can’t be because it’s too subtle 005628 Your past lives depends on that when you come out of that either you are going to be good or bad you can’t be in between lingering if it’s good maybe samsaric God maybe a human being may be a demi-god if it’s bad maybe an animal may be a hungry ghost may be a hell realm either hot or cold so whatever where ever I’m born again in that way it is no good even good one is no good because whatever suffering what I experience in this life you will totally repeat again and whether the opportunity I had are going to be repeated or not repeated is I am not sure so suffering will totally repeat totally sure guaranteed but opportunity is going to be guaranteed or not there are no guarantees not certain why because we can see in our life today because there are a lot of people who doesn’t have the opportunity I have more people more people 99 point nine percent human beings doesn’t have opportunity what I have there is only a few people that have whether I’m going to part or that few or going to be the majority chances are going to be the majority aspects of it and therefore I must do something right now cut the samsaric root otherwise it will continue circle never ends sometimes horrible life sometimes okay life circling all the time change of my life the old bodies that I had if I leave it if I collect if I could collect all my old bodies in one place it will be bigger than Mount Everest if I can collect all the urine’s and (purse’s?)005941 that I passed all my life it will be 50 times 100 times more than the ocean so there is no end to it so right now I have an opportunity I have everything I must end my samsaric life when I have it in my hand how Buddha told us four Noble truths suffering cause of suffering cessation cause of cessation two negative truths are cause and the result functioning me and now what I need to do is get two positive truth 010047 that is path and the cessation what path what can I do what path what path tell me what path two compassion and wisdom compassion and wisdom compassion and wisdom compassion caring loving for me my family my friends and their friends their family my fellow citizens my fellow human beings their (pets?) 010221 their friends their parents their previous lives my previous lives friends (pets?) and all living beings I cannot end anywhere as much as space exists that much of living beings I am very fortunate to be able to have such an object of compassion and compassion is nothing but caring and relieving them from the sufferings love is nothing else but appreciating loving and wishing to have them joy forever and I have opportunity to contribute towards that I have an opportunity to do something towards that I have an opportunity to be able to make it right the opportunity is the gift of Buddha the opportunity is the gift of my lineage masters opportunity is the gift of my spiritual teachers it is my privilege so I must do something that will liberate all of them what can I do right now I might not be able to make a difference in my own life how can I make a big difference to the others to all of them if I become fully enlightened Buddha I will not have limitations of knowledge I will not have limitation of the capability Buddha stage is free of all faults totally rich with the capability total knowledge and therefore I must become a Buddha for serve benefit all my families friends and their parents their families their relations everything every living beings I must become fully enlightened Buddha I pray that I become light and liquid comes from the body of the supreme field of merit purify negativities in general and particularly that of self cherishing negativities washed completely away I and all sentient beings now reach the stage of Buddhahood reach a stage of obtaining Buddhahood in praying form wishing is one thing praying is another thing both not necessarily contributing much so therefore I must do and act I must generate and act and function the practices of bodhisattva path and that is six activities for improve myself and for improve others 010802 Generosity and patience my (?) part generosity morality patience enthusiasm and concentration generosity also not only a material generosity generosity of protecting from fear not only these two generosity of giving Dharma so that people can follow the path and become totally enlightened on the basis of this morality also protecting me and others doing the wrong thing me and others will accumulate as much as possible the positive deeds me and others to serve all living beings as much as possible by not leaving any single person out no one left behind so does three moralities protecting from wrongdoing accumulation of positive deeds and no living beings left behind to serve this is great morality for the Bodhisattva’s similarly patience against anger hatred obsession Buddha himself mentioned there is no such a harsh negativity like that of anger hatred there is no difficult virtues like that of patience I must build all the patience patience of tolerance patience of understanding patience of respect enthusiastically with a total focus free of wandering and free of sinking I may be able to do this I may be blessed to be able to do this and light and liquid comes from the body of supreme field of merit purifying all negativity in general and particularly that of self cherishing all completely purified I and all sentient beings develop this not only understanding but recognizing perceiving making it part of our life we all develop that stage that covers the (work?) compassion aspects of it the next comes wisdom not simply just a witty wisdom but true wisdom that understands the true reality what is it why everyone suffers so much why I suffered so much where it is gone wrong it is gone wrong because I’m grasping myself me and me and me I could never ever give up or understand what that me is all about it who is it what is it who is that me 011358 Who is that me within the me shouting screaming that I am not happy I am suffering I am miserable who is that me what is it who hears me shouting who is the shouting person who’s listening person is it one or two or more if it’s one which one is it where does he live which part of my body in the brain in the heart or anywhere else and how does one hear oneself Buddha said you (can’t?) hear yourself Buddha said you can talk and hear together like Shantideva’s no matter how long your nail is it doesn’t touch itself no matter how sharp the weapon is it doesn’t cut yourself what is that me oneness with me or separate is it part of my body or is it part of my mind what is it really when you search on those lines am I the physical element of earth element am I the physical element of water or the fire or the wood what is it or the consciousness or the mind or all collection of all skandas what is it so when they’re not and why is that me the big complaining I. I the queen ant I the queen bee where is I Rimpoche gone in reality it is simply combination of conditions parts and parcel just be able to function just that combination that very fragile moment of combination is me no other no other this is a collection just like a society collection of a people is called society there is no “a” person called society so there is no “a” person as we think called me it is a collection of my bits and bits together therefore everything we think my obsession because everything I wanted my hatred everything I hated is based on something I projected perceived as wrong rather than there is really reality so that is the true nature we don’t see that we don’t recognize that we are unable to pick that up and that’s why me my you yours your side my side all these divisions are built on false base 011945 completely I may be able to see that I pray that I’ll be able to see this light and liquid comes from the body of Lama :Losang Tuwant Dorje Chang and the supreme field of merit purifying negativities in general and particularly self cherishing ego grasping or completely purified I and all mother sentient beings see the true reality Action Bodhimind and reach to the path of seeing I pray we reach I meditate to be able to function so my Bodhimind not only become action Bodhimind but becomes absolute Bodhimind and that will be the combination of wisdom and compassion together and this is the union of wisdom and compassion through this path we travel to reach union of body mind and union of Bodhimind and wisdom total enlightenment okay that is sort of really shorter version of Lam Rim for you you can do that every day if you want to if you don’t want no one is forcing you except the death and suffering in future lives are there (audience laughs) and they may push you force you which no one can do anything you can tell them we are a democracy you can tell them we have freedom so and that is how it works and finally we’re making offerings of a Mandala to the supreme field of merit 012222 Dissolving the Supreme Field of Merit with the word of such Ah vich eh chu.... finally the supreme field dissolves to the lower part of the dharmapalas will dissolve to Dakas and Dakinis they dissolve to the Bodhisattvas and Arhats they dissolve to the Bodhisattvas they dissolve to the Kiriya Deities they dissolve to the Chariya Deities they dissolve to the Yoga Tantra Deities they dissolve to the Mahayana yoga tantra deities they dissolve to the Yamantaka Goaysamaja and Hervarjra and Heruka they dissolve to the Lama Losang Tuwang Dorje Chang as well as the lineage masters of the Blessing lineage masters they dissolve all of them dissolves to the (Dorje Chang?)....012345 All the compassion masters dissolve to the Maitreya Buddha wisdom dissolves to the Manjushri Buddha and direct received teachers dissolve to the root master finally you have left five of them and all five of them now dissolve to the Lama Lobsang Tuwang Dorje Chang and the Lama Lobsang Tuwang Dorje Chang becomes very sort of shrink become small and I would like to go up and reach to the Lama Lobsang Tuwang Dorje Chang Lama would like to come down to me finally Lama melt in the form of the light and dissolve to our crown and reach to our heart level To doh sowah.... then finally dedicating all our virtues for the benefit of all myself and all other living beings that’s it we are half an hour ahead so and as I said earlier although this weekend becomes short even though for the Tuesdays we will continuously touch one outline after another so and those of you are far away can’t get it and if you talk Yonas butter him a little bit more or beat him a little bit whichever suits you know beating him or buttering him whatever 012554 and you can get it and those of you who are nearby you can come here and those of you in New York we are doing Thursdays so hopefully within the next few months maybe by the end of Spring or at least by the beginning of the Summer retreat the detailed the quick and smooth path combined together Cleveland hooks up here right every Tuesday Chicago does hook up Nebraska does Nebraska hooks up so the people near Cleveland they can go to Cleveland but then these two guys may not be able to go to Cleveland it’s a little far away for you right three hours so can you try to listen to huh that is good so although you people received Lam Rim teaching before both of you but still it will be important okay when I did the first Lam Rim teaching everybody from Chicago Cleveland drove up to hear for the weekend right long time year or two three years and every time I have difficulty to ending because Binda gets nervous of going (Rimpoche laughs) 012743 Benefits now she’s totally different relaxed and so all these virtues that we have accumulated may dedicate for the longevity of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other great teachers who ever where ever they are for benefitting all living beings as well as for the longevity of the Buddha’s teaching and that of Buddha’s teachings all of them and then especially J. Tsongkhapa’s teaching and the benefit of those of our relations and friends who passed away including our own the members that is gone and also for benefitting those of us who are living 012910 including our self and our family loved ones children and the relationships and ultimately all living beings all human beings and all living beings (Rimpoche speaks to a Sangha member) thank you and for the betterment of environment inhabitants and ultimately for all of us to become total enlightenment quickly quickly we always dedicate within the lifetimes so that’s what we should do and with this I would like to thank you for everyone staff who organized program directors Kathy and Hartmut and program people who are planning behind these two all six or seven people who are there and Debbie who is keeping the figures straight and I just skipped your name yes Birget there you are I see your face even without don’t you remember the name it is old age helping Debbie to keep figures straight Ugen lah making it possible Jamyang and Yonas, Rose and all others and Amy where has Amy gone what oh huh okay and Kala who been UMZEH which sometimes I over took and thank you and thank you and above and all most important to all of you if you people don’t come here and then we are not going to have a retreat and that’s you and giving me opportunity to share what little I know giving yourself opportunity to make a difference to your life this spiritual path is really rich really rich you might have just seen little glimpse but extremely rich within this this is refined gold perfect and a great opportunity 013257 so thank you for taking that and all this is senior students Aura Sandy who we didn’t see but her birthday was yesterday so we wanted to wish her you know because my birthday is supposed to be yesterday today is the first or thirty first? First so mine is supposed to be yesterday Sandy is supposed to be day before yesterday so and then we’re glad Supa you are here and Hartmut and Cindy thank you honestly we didn’t take opportunity of you giving us the exercise because I just want to finish this Lam Rim and Tony and Rocky Binda and now if I started naming them I am going to forget somebody and also Colleen Rutherford she is really keeping all these works that are together and try to make sense out of it really and thank you and thank you Yoh you don’t have to prove you can troubleshoot but we know you are good and if you don’t have to troubleshoot you are much better (Rimpoche laughs) and Rose there all the time and other people who are in there and do we have cooks and anybody else Akeego, Sangha Council you know the Sangha Council with the great difficulty it is functioning honestly honestly doesn’t even know what they are supposed to do (audience laughs) hey it’s the truth it is the truth because it is me they came out with that big document looks very nice and but then it looks clash with the office looks clash with everybody else 013532 and all that but they are really doing their job extremely well very very very well we have to thank you to the Sangha Council president and with a great heart he does and all other members and we call it office (?) Or what chairpersons or whatever your title is and so and all this and also we are grateful to the board and I don’t know what happened to Fran and try to make the administration running smooth and well with the success of the executive directors we had from the beginning Deanna Bruce, Konkah and Marilyn and Frank they’re all improving on top of another and the office staff is really honestly we can complain them as much as we want to they won’t mind it and you know at the beginning they worked free totally free and then tiny little like a couple of thousand dollars salary a year 013709 And full-time not only just simply full time it’s like 24 hour duty type of thing and for many years many years very grateful thank you no matter whatever I say but you know very grateful to all the staff and thank you and also those people all right leave a message yes those in the box over there they all do very well everybody else Bobby looks after making sure the flowers doesn’t dry and everything is wonderful Gloria arranges I don’t know where you get all this 013802 This John Madison’s what did you do (audience laughs) I’m kidding you’ve been there all right Mark Sunderland’s too and if I don’t mentioned anybody’s name and that doesn’t mean I’m not appreciating because being the old who Jay I did mention right from the beginning who discussion leaders thank you and you know I mean that’s what I try to say if I don’t mention it your name it is not that I’m not appreciating appreciate all of you extremely very grateful thank you and there are a number of things that I like to talk to you but better shut my mouth I am really grateful for everything and you know that we function everything functions here on the basis of your participation your financial participation we don’t have a rich benefactor who support jewel heart honestly a lot of people think you do but we don’t none I do get my apartment in New York paid by Jonathan and Deanna and that’s for me and so Jewel heart is totally depend on your participation so memberships and donations are the really thing we function we function quite okay you know we’ve been here almost what 20 years now right when Aura and Sandy and Stephen and people started we have been here 20 years right yes okay so except two years of Bruce’s administration we have never been in red we never had an extra maybe 10 dollars at the end of true nonprofit (audience laughs) no question or anything so never been in red for all these years and that so all the people who are maintaining the administrations and their usual mantra is no money dance to money we have never been in red mantra so anyway so we function that way so now we got a new building and a huge one and with the open window and running air-conditioner (Rimpoche laughs) together so somebody has to pay the bill and when there’s no money and then it comes to me and I have to find the money so I would like to just remind you if you’re not a member of jewel heart try to become a member benefit of the membership may not be really that much benefit for you but you are helping yourself you’re helping future generations you’re helping Tibet Tibetans you are helping Tibetan Buddhism you are helping in Buddha at the end you’re supporting your own Sangha so this is one of the best ways to build merit to have accumulation and also best way to have more money for you because Jim Bunda reh... generosity in general and particularly within your community is wish fulfilling it is also the best weapon that cuts the net of stinginess 014334 which helps to bring all other negative emotions and it is also so powerful and great activity of the bodhisattva and it also makes you popular within your community that mentioned by Tsongkhapa anyway so that is a lot of benefits in there and the best thing to give is your own community and your own society and we maintain our account perfectly and it is audited twice we have a local audit some different audit what you call that review periodically and then final audition audit by auditor so it’s sort of double triple checked not only that we really have very strong dedicated honest staff and then on top of that it checked two or three times and so it is perfect and so that is that and so I’d like to thank you so much and the people very kind to give me money that’s very kind but give to jewel heart that’s what I wanted to say and then keep up the most important thing is day to day day to day every day get up early in the morning don’t sleep late hey you yes what time do you get up six oh good every day? Audience: when I work Rimpoche: if you don’t work? Audience: I always work Rimpoche: Oh good (Rimpoche and audience laugh) anyway try to get up take a shower clean and look forward for the life opportunity everything particularly that day that week that day and opportunity remember this opportunity and then spend a little time to meditate Lam Rim even short way what we did and so do that everyday you will make a big difference in your life and by the time when you have to go no matter whatever the condition outside may be so somebody may be cutting your legs or hands or anything but you go with a smile and that is really this practice does and so that’s what it is and just keep that in mind and then I say thank you so much oh yes after this little Mandala offering and the dedication thank you 014741 (they then discuss Jewel Heart business and end in chanting) they close with a prayer and Mandala offering My notes below Hartmut 11 days to dictate days to transcribe begin here 000245 000714 001106 001526 001838 002130 002455 003154 003738 004152 004714 005028 005628 010047 010802 011358 012222 012554 012910 013257 013532 013802 014334 014741 finish 25 days to proof 001526 012743 3 days to read, title, spell check and send Total days to do about a 1.5 hour tape is 39 days
