Nagarjuna and Asanga are part of six ornaments yes, like to clarify that.

Uhm, in short, what did Djangwa lama Tsongkhapa emphasize is: Not the, not a detailed explanation, not a so much debate and argument isn't counterargument is eh alone, will not reach you anyway. No simply quoting through one book or through another book also not reach you anyway. So you need critical analyses of a subject. Focal explanation meditation combined together. One can't do without like you can't do without two truths, one of them. Like you cannot do without wisdom and compassion. Also you cannot do without critical analyses as well as quotation. But critical analyses alone will get you nowhere. Quotes from everywhere else will get you nowhere. It all needs to be balanced and experiential focusing concentration and the critical analyses all together. That is how you unite two truths. That is how you combined absolute and relative Bodhi mind, which means ehh, which means two truths. Ehh, and that is how you have a critical analyses as well as experiencing quotation, quotes, all combined together. Not separated.

Okay, so that should be enough. And ehh, both knowledge and experience, both are necessary. If you have knowledge and capable of expression but not experience. That's not good enough. If you have a great experience not capable of presentation knowledge, that's not good enough.

Presentation also not only you need both knowledge and presentation art but also have to be understanding.

If you don't understand no matter what great presentation may be, what great presenter may be, not really happens anything.

Earlier in Tibet there was a great ehh, I mean one of those India's greatest teachers actually at that time called extremely well known Midiyana. Uhm, been to the. The Pandit Amirti [??? 0:15:32.1]. He himself would like to come to Tibet but is not by any Tibetans invited him or anything. But he would like to come to Tibet, Tibet, and he brought his own translator. And ehh, so on the, when they were crossing Himalaya the translator died and then when finally when Pandit Matigana [??? 0:16:02.7] reaches in Tibet nobody knows who he is, nobody. Nobody really, nobody even know he is a great Pandit. He's sort of a little crazy man, knowing everything. So nobody wants to take teachings from him. Everybody uses him to cook and having him for cook. Cooking this, cooking that and then anything that difficulty comes and he says: Oh this man he has funny ideas, let's consult him. He's a sort of Whitty troubleshooter, ehh, troubleshooter, ehh, and he didn't do much for Tibetans or or or Buddhism in Tibet, couldn't do anything although he is one of the early Indians, most well-known Pandit, and nobody knows he is such a great master and years later when Atisha came by and suddenly he sees. He has written something on the rocks or something here and there and Atisha begins and says: Who wrote this? Who is that person here? Where is it? And they say Ohh, we used to have a man who used to cook for us. Or there was a man who used to be shepherd for our sheeps. He writes these funny things on different rocks sometimes. So that's one of his writings, right. Here and there, everywhere. So looks like Pandit Matigana went almost all over the Tibet where Atisha went but had no effect.

So, so these are the requirements and eh, Djangwa lama Tsongkhapa's teaching brought them together. Also for Djangwa lama himself. The great masters at his time of those ehh who are debating to him, arguing with him and they all praised at Djangwa lama Tsongkhapa. Especially laka Tangsa Losawa [??? 0:20:28.4]. Tangsa Losawa praised the Djangwa lama Tsongkhapa saying ehh, [coughs] I'm sorry. Oh [0:20:54.3] Djang djo de na sila dja.... [0:21:04.5] He's saying this part of the world, a very rare people who knows what the word means. ehhm even rare who understand the meaning of the words. Even more rare the meaning of the Buddha's teaching to learn and try to experience. You who are perfect all three of this I praise you. Similarly he said [0:21:42.3] La la djin ge lung..... [0:21:53.6] Now he says: Some without any critical reasoning simple quotations alone enough to establish tendence [??? 0:22:05.9]. Ehh some without any quotation just have some ehh argumentative critical mind alone try to establish. Ehh, What your quality is, you have both. Source quoting from the reliable source and critical analyses together. That is how you have established it Buddhism perfect. So that is the praise of Tangsa Losawa to Djangwa lama Tsongkhapa.

And the venerable do not become dull minded but always act devotedly towards benefiting the teachings and the beings.

In other words, in other words [0:26:50.5] this is ta do tju de, right [Translator] Yes [Rinpoche] In other words: there is some people who had a developed some knowledge, than become extremely proud and superior, superiatic feeling complex and so much of that. Don't even want to respect the Buddha even. So, so much. Ehh, you know we have a saying in Tibetan: You're so learned. You don't have to respect pect [???] even Buddha and you're so crazy. You don't have to even run away when the mad elephant smash you. So this is the saying but this is what they're talking about.

Ehh, some things they are so well developed. So I don't have to do any practice. I don't have to honor any vows, any commitments and beyond.

There is an example. There was a, a mantraian, mantraian. Possibly/ Cause he was [??? 0:29:39.8] good at lot of mantra business, mantraian and he and his family. So when this, he has become quite popular and ehh flourish [??? 0:29:52.4]. So during the time he told, he told his family. So he says: Well my worry is only you people. For me it's okay. I'm ready to fly to pure land, but you people will be left behind. That were my worry, so I'm around here still. [Audience laughs].

And then his wife told him. So you will be perfect ready to go but the sadness and the suffering is the me and the kids.

So some people do that unfortunately.

Some people are totally devoted, dedicated. Trying day and night, but so much lack of knowledge. So they don't know what to do. So, so totally spend their whole life try to do something right bu doesn't get anywhere.

So, what did Djangwa lama Tsongkhapa taught us and established us, is first: Emphasize in learning.

Before I came here in Europe. I think a month before. There is a, there is a Tibetan, ehh, broadcast system from Washington. T.B. broadcast system. Now I remember that were in February, February. So they want interview with me. So, they interviewed me. This is life show for one hour, every week they do. Do they interview me. One of the questions they said: In the West, when there be these Western Dharma centers who study Tibetan Buddhism. What sort of system do you follow? It is like that of great monastery tradition or is it like a Western school with the classrooms [??? 0:36:23.3]? That was the question. So some of ours not expecting that question anyway but it suddenly came. So I said: It is extremely difficulty to be like a great old monastery traditions. I said, not only it is difficult, almost impossible to the, to the Western world today but even for the Tibetans. It is very difficult to, to follow. Even in India or anywhere else, today. Then he said: Do you follow then sort of school things and passing system and certificate and class to class, year to year, graduation sort of an forth [??? 0:37:48.9]? So, no. Then what do you do? I said well, first emphasize on learning, second to analyze what you learned and third practice and looking for enlightment, not looking for graduation and not looking for dictees. I meant, that's happened.

So, so, so, ehh, so what did Djangwa lama Tsongkhapa's here is, is ehh, is ehh the vinaya or the moral aspects ehh, equally important to that of Vajrayana. Vajrayana is equally important to that of ehh pure sutra morality.

So, ehh have both the sutra morality issue as foundation and Vajrayana two stages of development as eh, as eh, or, as the essence within the individual.

[Translator] In my text it says: do not become remiss [0:42:15.9]. [Rinpoche] My one says the wanton w a n t o n I don't know what that is I only only know wanton soup [people in audience laugh]. What is wanton? Maybe it's miss meant? [Translator] I don't know [Rinpoche] Ehh? [Audience] the same as remiss [Rinpoche] What? [Audience] the same as what we're saying. [0:42:48.5 can't understand] [Rinpoche] What do you have? [Audience] remiss, this must be another translation [Rinpoche] Ohh? Same guy. Or maybe he changed it because this is latest that I think I have, after arguing the seventeen thing, verse. So, is this an English word w a n t o n? means? [Audience] the same as remiss, nothing wrong [Rinpoche] We're wrong, right. And anyway learned, yeah learned can become wrong. That is the, that is [0:43:35.1] Keva mache. If you really look in the Tibetan, they said learned should not become wild crazy wisdom and then, than: the venerables do not become dull minded. Ehh, always act devotedly towards benefiting, teaching and the beings. So that's, that is what it means. View support morality. Morality support view. That's really what that means.
