An antidote for immoral is protection of a vow and the moral also very important. And when you say moral you need think some kind of different, some kind of moral, when we talk about English moral, we interpret something. And from the Buddhist point of view when you talk about moral we are talking about something else. For example, when you talk about Buddhist point of view and you are talking about moral, what we are talking about honesty? Considering, caring? Basic human ethics. And of course, protecting your own values and commitments. These are basically when you talk about moral, we are talking about that. We are not talking about the sexual orientation of a person or not talking in that level at all. The moral human ethics and that is the most important moral we are talking. So, the moral is antidote of immoral, hahah, and the laziness is another one, there are many kind of laziness, there is eastern laziness and western laziness, for me if I get a nice cup of tea or something in a very comfortable place and you don’t know there is a movie to watch or nice book to read and I’ll be sitting in the corner in my room – that’s my laziness. I enjoy to be sitting down or sleeping, not moving, that’s my laziness. And the western laziness is different, you don’t have that problem, even if you are begged please sit down, you are staying, you like to run, hahah. You have to move a lot of time and run. Make yourself deadlines, and when yourself are absolutely busy to avoid necessary thing you have to do. I have a friend and student who has to write her PhD thesis, somehow she doesn’t like her subject or theme, the professors who are guiding her to write, she doesn’t like that at all. And she can’t get another way because the professors who push her that way. So as a result of that she kept herself busy by any possible means of volunteering anywhere else. So as a result, she has not time and to avoid writing her thesis for years. So that’s the western laziness. So, as I said eastern and western laziness is different. I mean not old Eastern are lazy like me or not, but I’m lazy. So anyway, antidote of laziness is the diligence, discipline and enthusiasm. And particularly for Dharma practice enthusiasm is very important. You don’t get much; you don’t get much encouragement either. Sometimes it becomes even obstacle too, people are like feel shy as they practice Buddhism. So as if it means some kind of cult of something. If you go to cult society, then you have to hide. And Buddhism is not cult at all, Battriana Buddhism is definitively not cult either. And Buddhism is one of those standing religion tradition much as Christianity of Judaism. Judaic or Christian or Hind, Muslim, or Buddhism, Genism, there is no problem at all. And on the contrary one can to be proud of being a Buddhist, the Buddhism has a tremendous amount of tradition, rich in quality, fantastic in method and wisdom and compassion, very strong, rich, very important, effective to the individual, so it is something we should be proud of it of rather than be embarrassed. So anyway, encourage me, so the encouragement is very little, Buddhism does not have rich society, the Buddhists doesn’t have money, nor it has the wealthy churches, so anyway ore even and the books are not easily available, teachers are not easily available, the facilities are not available, there is no machinery, so we have to pay your money to get in rather than the society to give you back. So but, there is something rich and effective in that and it makes difference to the people’s life. And you learn how to handle your life, it becomes easier, you will find matter to how not to feel lonely and you’ll also find how you can bring your future better, and if you believe in Buddhism, there is the possibility to become Buddha even. So, what else do you want? In the spiritual part you can’t get anything better than that. So anyway, that’s little (0:10:05)……talk, so since you don’t get any encouragement, hahaha. I mean true, because that’s how it really is, the enthusiasm is much more important than even in general so then enthusiasm alone is not enough. You do need concentration and if you cannot concentrate your mind will go like a ….(I lost an example.) hahaha …(0:11:06)……there is no limit. It’s just a …… The earlier Tibetan masters give that as an example: if you let the wild monkeys in the temple. They have no limit, they ……………….throw these images out and ring the bells, …..so to make it down, so we have to have two type of mental faculties: ….and remembrance. Probably if we have time, time for Bodhisattvas activities we can talk, if there is no time I might mention it here, like …..says: the wild mind is like a wild elephant. The wild elephant has to pretend by the trainer applying that hook, iron hook, to pull, and then what else, I forgot, and then hook and …….chain to …pillar, so the object of meditation or the subject of meditation, whatever it might be, you tight your mind to it by the hook and chain as memory or the awareness, not memory, remembrance and awareness. No matter how much they run you will put them back. They may run away 300 times in the matter of second, but bring it back 300 times too, so that’s how you learn by application of 6 powers and 4 conjunction points, joining points, you know the cars when they are at an universal cross, there is cross you can join and ….that’s the four, by means you can …..nine different stages and since I don’t have much time to talk, if you wanted to know read the chapter, the concentration chapter on the liberation in palms? Yes liberation in palms will have the best source and then it is added by all different teachers from everywhere but if you really trace the source, the today’s teachers the source is from deliberation pounds, whether it’s gishi raften or gishi kasda or gishi……all of them are form there. There is a …. (0:16:05) of elephant movement by……Rimpoche, it is elephant thought you also see everywhere, I think it is in the …..and it is in the essence of ….everywhere you can see that. That is all originally coming from there. Which all of them …………anywhere, so looking there and you will understand this mind stage of development. Ok? So then of course the most important delusion is the ignorance, which is most difficult to handle. So, the antidote is wisdom. It is not the wisdom anyway; the ignorance is not ignorance of not knowing but ignorance of wrong knowing. So, correcting that is called wisdom. So, every knowledge, every information, every quality that we are building up is we are building towards wisdom. So I did not try to show the reality, when we really see the reality, directly, truly, straight forward and then we call that is first …(0:18:10) with the mind, first …..with the wisdom, first ….with the emptiness, and revealing of the mystery of life, that’s all the same. So, these are the special antidotes of special negativities. But general negativities, all negativities are purifiable by meditating on emptiness, or certain activities like saying mantras, particularly that of the ……..(0:19:34) or any other good work that you do, if you dedicate, if you are motivated and dedicated. If you are motivated to purify that negativity and you are dedicated towards purifying that negativity. And if you do that any negativity is impermanent, so it purifies. However, it also depends how strong the purification is, how strong the negativity is, strong and heavy negativity cannot be purified by light and weak purification. Nor you need a strong and heavy purification for light negativity. We say in Tibet in order to kill a lie you don’t need ax. So, anyway you have to know how much strong, how powerful antidote is needed, it depends on the negativity. And if you apply the right antidote, the right amount for a certain negativity then every negativity can be purified. (0:22:05. Unguli Mala is an important story to be remembered here: how many people do not know the Unguli Mala story? How many don’t know? During the Buddhas’ lifetime there was a guy who was seeking liberation, so he went to a wrong spiritual master, that wrong spiritual master told him if you can kill 1000 human beings in one week and cut their thumbs and make a mala, wear it on your neck and come to me and I’ll liberate you. So, the guy went, chasing everybody, chopping their hands and thumbs and then by the time, he had 999 or something, everybody was running away and he can’t get anybody, by that time everybody knew what he is up to, so everybody run away, except one person left, his mother, the mother was afraid but also wanted to help him, so she was coming from long distance to see and try to do something, try to help him what to do, he also had consideration of his mother and doesn’t want to kill his own mother, and he was looking for the last person to get. Then Buddha appeared there as a monk, slowly walking nearby and he was happy and thought now I can spare my mother and take this guy here, so he started chasing Buddha who was walking slowly but he could never catch him. After a while he got tired and said: hey wait and then Buddha said I’m waiting, why don’t you come a little bit faster, and that’s how they begin their talk, the contact is very important and how he was able to open the contact. Then be able to negotiate, so the Buddha has been able to help him, poor information but help him. And finally, Buddha brought him to the Buddhas temple and made him monk and finally obtained ….(0:25:58). So that sort of guy who had killed 999 human beings can purify. Why not us, we did not kill even one single human being, did we? So really therefore there is no such negativity which we cannot purify. There is an Indian King during the Buddha’s lifetime, I think his name is Mageda, and what he did, he killed his own father and who is also Arhat, so that becomes for him two unlimited, limitless non virtues, there are five limitless non virtues, so out of that he got two of them, even that guy be able to purify and become a better person. So, there is no such a thing called negativity which is permanent. So, the question of feeling guilty is unfounded ground, you don’t have to feel guilty at all, anyway, so but you do need regret, so to me feeling regret and feeling guilty is two different things. Feeling guilty is, you can’t do anything, you are sort of stuck in that. Even the people who tell you you have to life with that, they use to say it, that’s your mistake, you have to live with that. So, what you have to tell them is that mistake is impermanent, hahahah. So anyway, you don’t have to live with that at all, it can be purified and it’s impermanent, it’s changeable, it’s …(0:29:10) from it’s own nature of the negativity it is changeable, from the circumstance point of view it’s changeable, from the time point of view it’s changeable, from every point of view it’s changeable. But we do need regret, if you don’t have regret, you will not care to make it clean. It’s almost like you don’t know, well, if sort of, there are certain persons who are not well educated, who doesn’t know very well but had a good military training and then killing is something great for that person. The person who doesn’t know that killing is bad and if it’s a soldier they will say well I’m a soldier and I killed and I’m proud to have killed my enemy. We have lot of them in America who has come to Vietnam, haha, some are very proud to have killed the Vietnamese, so the Iraqis, some don’t know that killing is bad so therefore they are not going to purify at all and so they have to live with that. So, the regret is important. Why? Because regret makes the individual at least to have a sense what is right and not right. So, if you regret what you did wrong, it also helps you not to repeat. So, not only the power of antidote but power of regret and not going to repeat. Sort of commitment to say I’m not going to repeat. So that is the application of the four powers. Ohh! So with that four powers, meditate properly and then if you say this verse: …….(in Tibetan)(0:32). That is the, the, we are still at the prelamination, right? The fifth one is now, now here is purification, now fifth is accumulation, now it is business time, so you have to do business, investment without risk, and …….(reading in Tibetan) anyway that’s the reachwising, it’s something very interesting, some of you will not pay much attention at reachwising it, on the contrary we are jealous, if your next door neighbors are doing something good we are very jealous, hey, she is doing something good, but she has not this and this, all the time. Right? This is our normal addiction, it’s our normal habit and pattern, we never think, we do think it’s good but it’s always that I have to be the good one and somebody is doing good and I say, yeah, yeah very good and blabla, but! You are showing your habitual pattern or you are showing your addiction to jealousy, so it’s been very expensive for us, we gain nothing but we lose a lot. That is a bad business. The good business is rejoice, if you rejoice you lose nothing but you gain a lot. That …(0:36:32) is working and put a lot of labor in that, and you sit here and rejoice and you don’t have anything that equal benefit. And if you rejoice spiritual high developed people in their good activities, likely if you rejoice what Dalai Lama does today , or what Mahatma Gandhi did before, of Mother Teresa is doing and you got lot of examples like that, right? and you can rejoice and keep on all the time. And let them work and we enjoy, that’s why I’m saying good business. So that’s the verse. So, we rejoice the activities of the spiritual field of merit, the Buddha, the Tsongkhapa, our spiritual masters particularly in this case Tsongkhapa and we rejoice all the activities of Tsongkhapa in general and particularly his speech activities. Particularly overcoming the eight wordly Dharma. The eight wordly Dharma is, there is a time we should able to talk, but I think the time is very limited and we should not talk about that, it’s available in all those book shops, which one? The deliberation in the palm of your hands too. Ok. Now up to here the most important, except dedication, the most important seven lamrims are covered but it’s a good armings that you also make recourse of the teaching, ( 0:39:47) teaching is necessary. This verse, ……….(inaudible)there is something that you have to know. We are saying in Buddhist tradition: ……..the stories that had been, the incidents and stories which had been taken place during Buddha’s lifetime, it is the thing that what we should practice, in other words, the life stories of the Buddha is the role model of future disciples. So, during the Buddha’s lifetime, the Buddha has not been giving the teaching, but the Brahmins has given the Dharma Chakara, the will we talked yesterday. And to correspond with that we should visualize that we have been given nice bit golden Dharma Chakara to the supreme field of merit to give …teaching. The …( 0:41:59) teaching is very important. The time is not the time of spring, summer and winter, of the year, the time is the level heard individual merit next movement???? (0:42:20) For us we need like a basic motivation, basic understanding of stages, basic understanding of virtue and non virtue, and if it’s negative how to purify, if it’s positive how to protect. These are our needs today. So, on different levels we have different needs. Such as people undergo devotional practice and they do need right advice, people on the common (0:43) practice, they do need a proper understanding of life, its value, its importance, in case you miss how difficult it is to find and taking refuge and these are necessary. If you are common at the medium level the understanding of the evolution, circle of existence, and how to reverse that on the bases of the Four Nobel Truth or twelve dependent links and if you are at the Mahaya level how to develop the body mind, how to grow compassion, love, the difference between love and compassion. What is relative body chita or absolute body chita is? And how I can grow that within myself and if you are Bashriana practitioners the timely initiation. And then look guide on the generating stage, and instructions and discussions on complexation stage and particularly before of any enlightenment the performed ultimate initiation…..and that is necessary to receive that, to have that without difficulty, you meditate to offer a golden Dharma will and request to give the …teachings. So then we say the verse: ………….(0:46) The last one is dedication. The dedication is a technique how to protect your positive virtues, positive Karmas. The positive Karmas can be destroyed by anger, anger and hatred is fire which burn all the roots of good Karma. Not only that but it creates tremendous amount of negative Karma. (reading verse) Chanderkidi said there is no such heavy non virtue than that of anger. Buddha himself also said: ……(in Tibetan) there is no virtue like that of patience and there is no powerful negativity like that of anger. The point is anger can ……( 0:48:37) all these good Karmas that we have accumulated in a lot of time. So is there a way to protect that? Buddha says yes, and the way to protect this is to dedicate. Our good Karma if you dedicate for seven purposes until that purpose it not fulfilled your Karma can not be exhausted and that is one of the technique of protecting positive Karma. And then they recommend to dedicate for number of different things. They are looking to dedicate for everything you want to, it’s your positive Karma, you have every right, whatever you want to do with that. But what Buddha and Bodhisattwas recommended is you dedicate in very big way, they say dedicate all virtues Buddha and Bodhisattvas are investing and what are they investing? To obtain enlightenment, for everybody, including ourself. So, if we do that and our virtues will also not waste and will give its result. Don’t think our virtues are ……(0:51:00)….what will that make difference? Remember it does make hell of difference. hahah. Not only that, ….Bodhisattwas we have a lot of virtues like that of ocean, we may have a glass full, hard glass or something, if you …in the ocean, Buddha says:…………if the ….put in the ocean…………(inaudible, bad quality of sound!!) now I can say that’s not your ….so mean you have not an ocean but that much…..There is an interesting story, in the Tibet, earlier, the Tibetan teachers and masters and they tell you this story. There were two travellers walking long distance together. Both of them are carrying the food, there is no hotel, so if you go for 17 days you have to carry 17 days food, so they are carrying food and one little wealthier person, what they do, they do eat bay flower, baly flower does not have any blackspots, and they are white and not expensive. The poor person is eating the pees, black pees, with no skin, not moved pee potter? And pee potter with black spots because the skin is black. That guy eat little amount, the other one with white flower has big amount so then they came to agreement and they mix them together and …….., so then they mix them together, for couple of days doesn’t matter they keep on eating equally, it doesn’t matter, when it’s eating quite a little the guy who is eating the white flower, he’s been eating just like me, equal but he had very little, but I had lot, so I should say something. So he said hey don’t you think yours amount you finish, you don’t mix them together, yours is very little, I’ve got a lot……don’t you think you …..finish? He said I think so lets look. So, they open the bag and say no, nice, not finished, see here there is a black spot, there is a black spot, hahaha. So, I’m told that the whole bali flower is finished but the black spots not. Likewise our little contribution is not going to ….all Buddha’s and BOddhisattwas. And that is what Buddha recommended. Lamrims of common dedication will say:…reading in tibetan…………….I’m sure you know this verse. So, that is the reason why if you miss with Buddha’s and Bodhisattwas virtues will never finish, plus Karma is definite. Since Karma is definite whatever, you dedicate for, until that the result is given, not matter how long it takes, it is not finished. That’s how we protect the positive Karmas. Ok? Good. So, I think that covered the dedication, reading in Tibetan……(0:57) so this one is particularly dedicated for the longevity of the teaching of Tsongkhapa. Ok? So now that covered the seventh lamrim. And so we have covered the sixth point, of the sixth preliminary, oh, that is sixth preliminary. Ok now that is the sixth point where the most important points of purification and accumulation of merit was put into practice, daily or weekly or monthly or yearly practice, whatever, it depends on the individual, so that is how the practice should be done. In the case of lamrim we have a mandala offering joined together here. So, what we have, is mandala, mandala is what I told you yesterday, mandala wood is a principle and surrounding. So, it refers to universe and to anything. So here in this case, the whole total universe. So we can give the whole universe to the spring field of merit, so according to the Hindu-Buddhist mythological stories the whole universe consists of mount ………..and four counterlands (1:00:31) and 4 directions of counterlands and thirtytwo heavens and so I’m afraid, all this existence is counted in there. Since we are ….in this particular universe, we do have a common right in it. From that angle as well as from the angle of emptiness nature ……………….we can make offerings. So beside that whatever you know, we can think the good places, nice environment, every one of them, you can offer without any attachment, without any hesitation, without any …..(1:01) I think that is the mandala offering, the muddha ….is this, so you can learn anyway among yourselves. And also, if you have the mandala plate, you can also make mandala offerings here and if you can make a number of time, like 100000 and so and forth and it’s very nice and to be rejoice. Not a complicity, indeed you have to hold the plate in your left hand, with some kind of whether it’s grey or whatever the mandala offering may be. It’s recommended, the more expensive the mandala offering is the more accumulation of merit. So, if you have gold mandala, great. In Tibet we find lots of golden mandalas. That’s 22 carats, not 14 carats or 18 carats. Or 24 so anyway then you clean the mandala by your own, what is it called? and clean it three times this way, sort of inside out, so by doing it is purifying the body, mind and negativities. Then you go opposite direction, anti clock direction and do likewise three times and that time you are collecting the blessings of body mind and speech. Then you offer the hips ………………(1:04:28), continent, universe, etc. and then the most of the time the east is right in front of you, anyway. ……………….(inaudible for me)……..

The direction of continents go to the southeast to northeast, southwest to southeast, northwest to southwest, like this. So anyway, so the rest can go in the clockwise circle. I would say the long mandala, three to seven hips or twenty-three hips, or whatever or even the shot of the phone which you don’t have to do all this. The material you put is also, if you have sort of …….that is the dust and the last I recommend is the grey. And if it’s sort of rice or something it’s also recommended to put golden color on it. And way and how you do you, you take the Safran of currypowder in milk and soak the rice in that milk and let the rise dry, that’s how you color it. That is not so important. Anyway, that’s how you offer the mandala, that colors it. Now the next is point blank request. Point blank, so there is nothing, so either you say mandala of ………..or the mandala of …masters, whatever you do it’s a totally focusing on the field of merit. Like in the lamatuba you have that thing called ……….(1:08) blabla all this. Can you read that? It’s just before the lamrim stages. So, any type of point blank requests you can use. So that completes the preliminaries and we have to stop here for lunch (reading in Tibetan).

So, then we have preliminaries and action and conclusion. Out of three the first preliminary which has six preliminaries the sixth one.. (1:10:41) and the mandala offering, no fifth one, the sixth one is sort of point blank request, point blank focus request. That probably we did not really talk enough earlier before the break because of the time. To make a little focus on that. Either your spring field merit is Tsongkhapa, in that case you can use ……(reading verse) (1:11.10). So ……that particular prayers of Tsongkhapa is actually considered as ….in the form of sound or ……and it was Tsongkhapa himself, and he wrote to pray to one of his teachers and not to himself and first what he wrote: (reading in Tibetan (1:12:50) so he said the crown jewel, the first compassion, the second wisdom, third power and then the crown jewel of the masters is the land of snow, that’s Tibet. And then call the name …….. So he received that and said it doesn’t fit me, so he colored out and he wrote ………..he changed the crown jewel of Tibet, Tsonkhapa…. I bow to your feet, so giving back. So, itself returned by great masters Tsongkhapa himself and giving to teacher who corrected and giving him back, sort of back and forth giving of press, which is sort of considered full of blessings. And not only that, this particular mantra, if you say this and there is tremendous physical benefit also, such as it protects, like if you are saying like a hundred …. a day ( 1:14.50) and it was commonly said it protects you from strokes and heart attacks even. Whether it protects from strokes and heart attacks or not, but it definitively protects from the mental dimension. And not only is also protects from all sorts of spirit disturbances. And then particular advantage over here is two things, to build intelligence or wisdom, and particularly to build the memory. The memory is really an experience shelting? If you keep on doing the …..(1:16:03) a hundred, you cannot even do 100, let’s say 25 or 30 every day and they are, there are different meditations and different practices which I might have mentioned in the m…., I don’t remember. So, I might have mentioned. There are seven different ways of developing wisdom and memory. So it’s in there…………….Inaudible ……(1:17:18-1:17:39) So that’s one way of doing it. Another way of doing it, if you don’t like doing the Tsongkhapa thing, if you like to do Buddha, then you can say: (reading in Tibetan) I bow to the lama Buddha Shakamuni, then the mantra will be Muni muni…….do I have to go over or everybody knows? If you don’t know rise your hand. Only one so probably everybody knows. So anyway, briefly, the letter Ohm has a tremendous amount of meaning: one it’s the beginning of the mantra, and that’s why people, whether Hindu or Buddhist say ohm, the westerns may say Ohmmm, a big deal, but anyway that is ohm, it’s not only beginning of the mantra but the combination of three consonants that is A, O and M. So that means aom. So, three letters represent the body, mind and speech. That is the same thing with o mani………all work on same way. So, three letters represent body, mind and speech. Whose body, mind and speech? The body, mind and speech of the enlightened being whose mantra you are going to say. And the body, mind and speech of the individual practitioner. Both of them. So (1:21.00) …..muni, what does that mean? No, …inaudible, anyone wants to say? Is it victory? Who asked you to say that? Hahah, I’m joking anyway. Ok. Both, victory, victory, greater victory or conqueror, conqueror or great conqueror or, anyway, victor, victor, great victor anyway. So, these three times is representing the delusions, delusions in terms of delusions, of the powering delusions and ….. delusions, all of them. ….(1:22.30) (inaudible) I’m asking you, only you, hahaha. Ok. ….What about you? Marianne? Inaudible, people whispering. Anybody else? So, the foundation and the body mind and speech of the enlightened being laid in my body, mind and speech. Even the Hindu ……..that what is means. Whom what stands for? Don’t look at me, hahahah, whom, how? It’s ok, it’s alright. Whom is the union, mani is the method, patni is the wisdom, whom is the union of method and wisdom, that is, method is love and compassion which represent the lotus in the Jewel heart logo and the wisdom is represented by the fire. Putting together is the union. That is what it is. Anyway. So when you have this ….(1:26:13) it’s almost like holding from the feet of guru, or guru sakamuni, guru Tsongkhapa whatever. And it’s almost saying that, and it’s almost holding it and saying now please, you are the only protector and blablabla, so that type of ….you read earlier. That will do, that will do. Actually what you are really supposed do to is if you read this preliminary book, it’s called ……(1:27) and if you really look in that and then actually it’s looking the guru inseparable than that of four ………….so lama guru is all collection of all gurus and I bow to you, the Buddha,….master. likewise all the yidams are collected in one, I bow to you lama Buddha …… like ……..protector. And one who has the four …….and the one who is Buddha, one who is Dharma, one who is Sanga, so actually you really focus down to single person and making complete sort of …….praying, combined together. So then light and liquid comes from the body of the guru, flows through your body and all scented beings around you. Purified all ….negative Karmings we process and particularly wherever your meditation stage is, if you are at guru devotional level, so the obstacles to develop guru devotional level practice through devotional point development? Which is not having a performed intelligence faith, misunderstandings, doubts, so these are the three major obstacles to develop guru devotional practice level. And in the case of endorsing human life, that’s the loosing of self-esteem, saying like I’m …..(record finished)
