Welcome everybody of those who are constantly coming to this Tuesday without a break and when you finish this and you do have a complete teaching of this Foundation of Perfection but if you missed one or two evenings and whatever you missed you can fill that up if you take a note of what evening you missed then you can contact individually or two or three together either (?) Rimpoche or Aura or anybody who is around you can ask them to fill up the gap so that way the teaching will be completed and you do have the unbroken lineage and the tradition will be there.110

So if you keep on taking notes if you missed which Tuesday suppose if you missed one Tuesday or like two Tuesdays earlier you missed something then you can contact them and try to fill it up filling doesn’’t take time just the person has to read through and give a little explanation not as understanding oriented but sort of having the gap and fill it up. Traditionally we do that and it is always permitted that way. I would just like to inform you that way and that you have to individually take responsibility nobody will take collective responsibility no organization will look after traditionally all the Tibetan teachings are like that. Individual people will ask the teacher I want this teaching I want that teaching the teacher may give teachings or may not give teachings but there is no organized way you do it not so much. Like in the West all is organized in Tibet it is not even if there is a group together if one misses that is how you fill it up.224

So that is how it be done. Before we go down today’’s teaching I will like a couple of people well listened in the teaching to do some important work and that will be well virtually people have to have absolutely clean hands clean in the sense I mean I’’m sure everybody has clean hands but anyway it’’s sort of you know freshly washed or something I think they have some kind of (Rimpoche discusses with audience members) only eight you had a couple of them okay so about thirteen people so that is people have scarves they can put up and how many this? Fifty oh they have scarves so they can cover up the scarves. And so we do have those blessing pills from his Holiness so I would like to fill those up and which way you want to come in why don’’t you started giving from here (he talks to the audience a more). The great Masters during their lineage period and they used a lot of those herbs different herbs have been used for offerings as well as some are used for longevity some are used for healing some are even used for in certain cases they’’re used for bulletproof. It is very true some of those very few but some of them any blessing pills given by some of those earlier period and if you’’re wearing that sometimes it protects from the when they had some fight and people used knives it doesn’’t go through532

A number of case happen that and there was one old Lama when I was young I remember called (Toontsa?) Rimpoche he said when you look at him he is a very nice old great Lama but he’’s a very short tempered person you know and anybody he sort of a holy horror if you go near him and he’’ll scold everybody and some kind of thread you know little red thread where he note put some note and give it to people and sometimes they said this thread protects bullet and he won’’t give much he is very difficult to give and there is one monk and he asked for his blessing cord they call it thread blessing cord and he did he did give and this guy took it somewhere in the picnic area and started putting on the neck of a goat and started hitting with a knife and seeing whether it’’s protecting or not and later he heard and he is horrified and that’’s protect. And so these blessing pills are always in the tradition the Tibetan Lama’’s they give you occasionally so this particular blessing pill carries this unbroken lineage from Buddha onwards whatever the (humble?) thing they used it and the little bit one they make a little bit more a little bit one they make little more you know like if you have ten thousand pills here they may be like ten original things they sort of make them powder and mix up with the new ones and then they use particularly for they put them in the meditation and say a number of mantras and then they give you for blessing purposes and this is his Holiness’’s and it is made in Dharmasala and prepared and practice by his Holiness himself prepared by the number of people and practice and meditated by His Holiness himself and the monasteries so we going to give this to the members of the Jewel Heart it is going to be give to the members of Jewel Heart from His Holiness himself so they came in bundles so we make all this envelope and all this so that is why you’’re doing this Oh you don’’t have to close you don’’t have to seal it don’’t leak don’’t seal it don’’t leak just leave it like that. Make sure don’’t touch the pill without yes goes yes thank you. So that is for that purpose and also while I’’m talking here I would also like to share the people who are coming here for the constantly comes to the Jewel Heart902

Visit by His Holiness

We really don’’t maintain Jewel Heart membership or we don’’t really maintain we don’’t have a card to be a membership card we don’’t have that and we don’’t really even have proper list or anything so people who are here please make sure you write your name in some kind of register here. Okay I might well as say it because I’’m not supposed to but I might well as say it otherwise people will wonder why and there is a possible that you may have a private audience with His Holiness so that’’s why I said please leave free on Friday morning for yourself. So but if you don’’t write your name and a number you’’re not going to get it. Somebody else will call you and confirm you and then they give you something to put it on or whatever it is you know some kind of mark which goes through the security if you don’’t have that you don’’t get it. So that’’s why it is important make sure you write your names. Tony may give you a bunch of loose paper there but whoever wrote the first name write your name number one and then two three make sure you write your numbers and write your names and the phone numbers where you can be reached during the daytime or home phone number.1355

We are not going to leave a message on the machine so there may be some other reason so that’’s why so where to get it how to get to you and make sure you leave that number and then it’’s not going to be enough. How many pages do you have ten? Can you write on each page a number one two three four five six seven eight page numbers each page will have a separate number so that if you lose one page you will know you lost it. So did you write the numbers on the page? Okay thanks. So very often what I notice is Americans don’’t write numbers on page and they write and then one page go somewhere else another page go somewhere else and who knows. Okay so now if I think people are begin to familiarize what you are doing so if you keep quiet I can start talking and so otherwise there will be no point so I started talking. What we did last week Tuesday basically I explained with the three levels of the practice common with the lower medium and the Mahayana it is the goal it is the purpose and what you want hope out of that so that was basically I explained last week so I’’m not going to, I should not repeat otherwise I’’ll never go down through. But we have a saying in Tibetan when it is important you repeat a hundred times No when it is important you repeat it and repeat it and repeat when it is the Dharma you repeat more than a hundred times. That’’s what normally they say if it is an important one you repeat and repeat and repeat when it is Dharma you repeat more than one hundred times (he’’s takes Tibetan)1637

So this is very important training of mind training of mind on the basis of the Tibetan tradition with the Tibetan Buddhist background which is its tradition the training of the mind is basically make three layers three layers three labels the label the lower level the medium level and the upper level so if you don’’t have to talk it is better not to talk so that I can speak so now you are used to it what you are doing unless if you have a question make sure you whisper rather than make noise so the lower level the lowest level at least will hope to improve the individual and when the individual passes away in their future life and to have a better rebirth. Making sure that we will not fall in lower realms and you talk about the lower realms according to the Buddhism I mean Tibetan Buddhism we have six realms in this I talked that we made a chart the chart was given to you and it was all valuable information so I cannot repeat all the time again. So the chart was prepared the chart was given to you and if you’’re new if you don’’t have it ask your friends who are sitting right and left to you (?) Can you have it copied we don’’t have a copyright on the chart so you can take that and no one’’s going to sue you by copying that so take a chart and do whatever you have to do do that and learn it 1855

So anyway the purpose of the lowest level is not fall into lower realms that is the whole purpose not fall into lower realms and second purpose the second level the medium level is to be free to make yourself free from the sufferings and the control of the delusions and negative karma and that is the second purpose1925

Third purpose is not only the highest level not only you get free from the sufferings but you will be able to help others and make them free and as much as you get freedom as much as you obtain a highest enlightenment at that level you will be able to take your friends and companions and all of them together to be able to share the truth with the people and that is the highest level enlightenment level that was the goal we have. To achieve that goal quickly within the short life what we have to achieve that quickly and you depend on the Vajrayana practice there’’s a Hinayana or middle level or the Mahayana Bodhisattva level but going beyond that depend on the Vajrayana level with the Vajrayana practice one should be able to achieve that goal within that short life what we have very short life in (that?) we have to have that that is the Vajrayana purpose2055

now the next on that the next question rises how do I achieve that how do I give training to my mind to be able to achieve that so when you raise that question all these three levels are depend on each other everybody may like to have the Mahayana the best possible people will normally jump for that say I want the best who doesn’’t want I mean to do you also normally American even tell you do not settle for less than best or something don’’t they say that right. Don’’t settle for less than best yes thank you so that’’s what normally Americans say that it’’s true it’’s true why should we?2149

However if you don’’t have the lower foundation no matter how much you’’re going to go up to the higher level you’’re not going to get anywhere that is the problem with a lot of people everybody wants the high-level everybody likes to roll their eyes in a very interesting way but if you don’’t have a basic foundation no matter how much you roll your eyes and there will be eyeball rolling and that’’s about it and I’’m quite sure even the cows will know how to roll their eyes so the cats know they even know to change the level of the eye in the daytime you know in the middle of the day they change it I’’m allergic to a lot of cats I used to like it but so anyway so they do change that too. So in order to have that proper higher-level you do need a basic foundation if you don’’t have it what will happen is it becomes building a castle on the ice when the spring comes the ice going to melt and the castle will go down right? And we’’ve been talking the other day I talk to you the day saying that one of the Indian professors tells me told us it is great that the Himalayas is very high but if you don’’t have the foundation how do we know how high you are the same way the foundation the basic foundation fundamental foundation is absolutely important. So the middle level is built on the basis of the lower level the higher-level is built on the basis of the middle level and the Vajrayana the Tantric practice which is quick and effective and powerful and all of them are built on the basis of all of them together so if you don’’t have it then it goes down it’’s like not having a proper foundation when you’’re building a multistory your building is going to collapse so the first comes first so what is the basic training you have to give to your mind2426

All right so according to this particular practice or text what you say is so the basically I already mentioned to you embracing the human life and getting the maximum benefit taking the maximum advantage of this precious human life that is one. Embracing the human life and taking a maximum benefit out of that is one okay? One under that when you train your mind how you train your mind? Look at your life observe it and embrace. You know a number of different teachers even in this country had been one born here one born there might be but they teach you to look at to observe your life and see how good you are and what values you have and even some of them even told you look in the mirror and see how you are I may if you look from the Rajaneesh to all this Chittananda, Mukdenanda and come down now even Ram Dass today and all of those and if you look at all of them they have one point here and there they might have emphasized but what the point they really taught you is like be here now and be your self appreciate you look at you observe you one of them Rajneesh or somebody else I was told they make you look at the mirror and look at how good you are and tell you or how bad you are or whatever it is whatever the purpose the level may be they tell you all this and all of them single pointedly taught by the different teachers in the different ways but all of them is coming together under this particular outline. Observing your life and embracing it.2711

Okay that is a simple little Tibetan Buddhism will give you simple little outline and it does not really explain much and does give you that and if you’’re intelligent enough if your teacher or your guide or your friend be able to explain it and then all of them will fit together and it is point and if you don’’t explain it oh yes embrace my life okay good my life is embraced so what okay so what okay okay so what what I have them then what 2743

I don’’t know that so what that is what happens so the point really is here and if you look at it and all of these different teachers that have been in this country so far no matter whatever they had some of them had good reputations some of them may have bad reputations and some of them have scandals and some of them whatever they might have they have shared their capacity whatever they could their understanding and their capacity which is able to observe by us in the different level different ways they have shared good or bad whatever they get they have a scandal maybe whatever they have it doesn’’t really matter whether the Rajaneesh has a thirty Rolls-Royce or not it is not I mean I’’m not trying to defend Rajaneesh okay it’’s not the issue the issue here is he had shared his understanding and his reading and his development maybe good maybe bad to some people it’’s good for some people it’’s bad it doesn’’t matter even the Buddha during his lifetime whatever he shared it had been very helpful to some people and some people hate it it’’s not that Buddha is always like today you know Buddha’’s gone two thousand five hundred years ago we have an image up there he will not speak whatever you do right?2918

So it’’s good great because we can always say nice because this person is not going to speak back. That’’s the reason true and its two thousand five hundred years ago you can say all the good things about it and nobody really knows the bad thing about it or nobody will say and this one not going to say speak back so that’’s why whatever you want you can interpret it and you can say and do things and that’’s why everybody looks good but during his lifetime no he had a challenge he had a group of different teachers attack him he had been reprimanded by the different teachers and all sorts of things and that goes with everybody. Anybody you give me one single teacher in the world who has been in the past ever since humanity started ever since then you give me one single teacher who did not have those problems. There will be none for whatsoever right? That’’s what it is so that’’s the point so the point what I’’m trying to raise here is when you look at it from the angle of faults and problems you will perceive a lot of faults and problems and that is true to each one of us not only to the spiritual teacher but to our friends and companions all this if you look from the eye of fault you will only see the fault if you look for the eye of fault to your husband or wife or the children or the parents you’’re going to see all their problems you can make a big long list everything whatever they do you going to see them problem it is meant to insult me it is meant to do this you’’ll perceive them as against me always but if you look from the eye of love compassion or from the angle of quality you’’ll see everything has a quality this looks bad but there’’s a reason behind it don’’t we do that that is how the human mind works and that’’s how it is right? So the point here what I’’m trying to raise is the past teachers I’’m not particularly talking about Buddhist teachers or Tibetan Buddhist teachers I’’m talking about the spiritual masters who had been in this country for the past a number of them have done a tremendous amount of service for a tremendous amount of people a number of them had a number of different scandals and each one of them have it so but the point is you have to acknowledge they have a shared something and they are guided and they help and each one of them you pick up everywhere one single point here one single point there one single point here and if you bring them together you will have a perfect Lam Rim here that is a funny part of it in this particular Lam Rim you will see all of them one person might have single-handedly (proceated?) one single point and another one might have done single pointed on single point another might have done on single pointed so all of them are in here there’’s a concentrated meditation right you keep on sitting sitting sitting the (?) so if you go to be (?) they will only tell you how to sit and look in the internally so they call it inside looking3343

Lam Rim

Sitting and inside looking and if you look in this Lam Rim and you look from the backwards two last Paramitas tell you that not from the beginning but two last Paramitas will tell you this if you look at the life and this thing they will tell you here at this level and if you look at the worshiping and the praying and all this and they will tell you at the refuge level. So that’’s what Tsongkhapa praised this particular point he said it is the essence of all collected spiritual path and some of the Buddhist teachers make a big bluff not a bluff sort of what you call it they blow their horn and saying that when you read this they said all the books will shake all the spiritual books in the world will shake and you say why oh their heart has been taken their essence has been sucked out so all the spiritual books in the world will be shaking3450

So the essence of the information is all sucked in. So that’’s what they used to say whatever it is if you read it todays all the different teachers whatever they taught you they’’ve (?) Perfect and helping individuals. You will find in here might not be liberated at all3518

Embrace life

Like the (live one?) embrace life okay so what I have it what are you talking about it right? that is what we take attitude but then you’’re go in that and it is also necessary it is absolutely necessary to be able to embrace life otherwise we have a problem we get into psychological or whatever it is problems we get into it because we don’’t have enough appreciation of what we have little childish statement I always joke my statement what I say is if somebody tried to give you a million dollars and ask you to cut your neck no cut your head off makes Tibetan way of thinking we always say cut neck we don’’t say cut head (Rimpoche laughs) Americans say English say cut head chop your head so nobody’’s going to choose that everybody will hesitate to chop your head for a million dollars unless you’’re crazy the crazy one will do and so but nobody will do so that’’s a childish statement but if you think about it if you sort of visualize that way and you know what does that serve purpose it serves two purposes purpose one you really begin to think about wow I do not really realize how important this life is one you think about it two you also realize a million dollar can do nothing if you die I mean it is nothing it is equal to a handful of dust for the purpose for yourself so that way it is a childish way in one way of looking but on the other hand if you keep on looking that way your attitude will be different anyway point here is recognizing the life and embracing it acknowledging the importantness of it okay? So I may not have much time to talk I talked a number of times on this so I’’m going to sort of leave you there but the point if you look in the traditional Tibetan teachers what they did is they meditated they meditated and the way they meditate you know because we are sort of builds up the reincarnation is established in our head and nobody will doubt nobody will say sort of you take for granted I mean today we take for granted world is round we take that for granted we go round the astronauts go round and we see the moon over here we look here and all this it may change one-day you never know (audience laughs) until then you never know until then we are taking for granted this is that way right? Likewise the Tibetans have also granted we have this reincarnation and all of this so how to giving the training of the mind what do we do we visualize we visualize if I am an animal today and what will be my capacity. If I am that beautiful dog of yours so what will be my capacity if I am hot I can only bark hopefully you’’ll understand if I am cold I can only bark hopefully you will understand if I’’m hungry I can only bark hopefully you will understand right if I’’m sick if I have a pain I will only bark hopefully you’’ll be able to understand. So it shows you the capacity of a dog right?3939

So does cat if I am this nice beautiful Siamese cat over here and then I can only meow right whatever I don’’t like I can only say meow that is all hopefully you understand like the dog so that reduces my capacity true true and then at the end of it I’’m happy luckily I’’m not the dog luckily I’’m not cat I’’m happy I can talk I can express I can complain I can appreciate so then you know that’’s how you bring the appreciation serves two purposes acknowledging the suffering of the animal world and appreciating the human life. Likewise hungry ghost level if you meditate I am a hungry ghost I can’’t eat I’’m very hungry hungry so much so that the fire is coming out of my stomach even coming out of my mouth but I don’’t die it burns completely because of my karma they don’’t die that’’s how the hungry ghosts are due to the hunger the fire comes out to the mouth but you can’’t eat it. My stomach is as large as a mountain my hands my limbs are as tiny as a straw or hay I can’’t walk the limbs are so thin my stomach is so big the head is huge visualize that way and that may be a very funny way of training the mind but if you look at it that is how I did and that’’s how you do but you may not do it you may do it what ever you like to but that is how you appreciate this life when I say appreciate life normally people will think yes he says it’’s good but I don’’t think so I got plenty of pains I have plenty of suffering I got plenty of misery and things like that people will look that way it’’s not you can see it you see the dog next door to you the rabbit you see the deer the deer is great people like it but if you’’re a deer you have limitations and how much limitations you have you see the frog you see the cockroach you see the wasp up there all of them by chance we happened to be not that one today and that’’s how we appreciate. Sometimes it’’s better we will be a samsaric gods all sorts of pleasures wonderful things everything is a flower beautiful empowerment clean everything wonderful however I am not so I am not totally controlled by attraction either so I appreciate that and that’’s how we basically look so that is the when they say this particular life has a leisure and an opportunity. The opportunities are acknowledged in that way and when I’’m talking to you in that way it might be sound very funny and sounds to you what senseless useless type of things but if you think carefully between me the human being as a talking as a human being today you will look at me and you say there’’s a human being there you will acknowledge and I will also think I’’m a human being and between that particular identification of me and me as a dog may be a very cute puppy or something but between that what do we have? In one way yes I were a human being that dog it’’s a big difference but what is the difference between me and them I to become that dog and that dog to become a human being what it takes. It takes less than to come from America from Asia or go to Asia from here right? To go to Asia from here you at least need a travel document a passport you may or may not need a visa but you do need an air ticket you have to fly but for this person to become a dog you don’’t need that. There is no mountain to be crossed there is no ocean to cut there is no border to cross there is no visa to obtain only little breath that breath what we breathe in and out (Rimpoche breaths loudly to illustrate) and that’’s there that’’s the only thing in between do you realize? You don’’t when you don’’t realize (blank spot on tape) sometimes it’’s three minutes ten minutes five minutes or five thirty five or something we may say it what really had happened is that little breath border has been crossed it is only the breath there4600

So if you think those lines then appreciate it something worth it has value it has meaning it has purpose it will make a difference to an individual it will make a difference if you look at it that way right? Sometimes these points little points is nothing new nothing that you don’’t know but somehow we don’’t pay attention and that makes a hell of a difference right?4646

So that is how we appreciate life when I say embrace life that’’s what I mean that’’s all we are talking about. If I’’m a cockroach everybody will kick me out of the kitchen or where ever they are you know with all sorts of things all the chemicals that you don’’t want to breathe you’’re going to throw on me so that’’s what it is the difference is only that air so you have to appreciate that and once you been really appreciate it that way when you really get that and when you really appreciate life when you embrace the life you will not have much of what we call it the under the weather you know all under the weather have come because you really have to not grounded here properly a lot of people a lot of Dharma practitioners, spiritual practitioners all of them go under the weather a lot we call that under the weather right? Technically (?) in other words you’’d like to have a long face like to sit at the corner and don’’t want to talk about it (audience laughs) and that is what we call it under the weather so because if you really had grounded this properly you won’’t have much I mean after all you are a human being you have a little bit here and there but that will not be so severe that it will shake your life totally it will not be there.4855

Not only that it is a very interesting point people when they have this Dharma and spiritual practice it’’s really make a totally difference in their life whether you acknowledge or you don’’t acknowledge but we can see it perceive it well coming here this evening on the way I was talking to a friend who is in New York who had gone through a tremendous change in the life recently. Anyway so don’’t let me explain what the big change is anyway so the question what I asked so how you feeling? She said fine so I said what you do in the evening these days you are alone? She said yes. She said what do I do in the evenings well I read and I practice and I said oh are you happy with that? Well if I don’’t have the Dharma I would have gone crazy when I have the Dharma I can read and I can meditate and I can practice and I have plenty of things to do so which makes me think once more yes we talked right and we said yes that does that it helps you to go through with your life whether it is with companion a without a companion right? And it helps the individual not only to do something but also benefit your way of approaching the life your way of proceeding the life is totally changed. No longer loneliness is there particularly if you look at the aged people you call it old folks homes or nursing homes whatever you have those different names right when you look at those people it is great they have a comfort and hot and cold air and something there it is wonderful but if you really look at those people what are they doing waiting waiting for something to happen right? In other words they are not waiting to become younger or healthier sort of virtually they are waiting for dying 5214

And if you are a Dharma practitioner you will not be doing that you may be sitting in the home but you will be doing totally different your attitude will be different your way of looking will be different your time will be consumed differently and hopefully the results will also be different not hopefully but should be and that is how the Dharma makes difference to the individual’’s life and to have such an opportunity is really great. Well it sounds like I’’m trying to brainwash you but it is not but if you really look at it that is how it is it is the reality it is the reality but then at the same time there so many people cannot take the opportunity they’’re not. I mean each one of us we know a number of different people we have different friends partners companions roommates and children or parents and we would like to benefit them through this but they’’re not interested they don’’t want to hear about it and for them they think are doing the best for them but on the other hand they don’’t have the opportunity they don’’t have the fortune of making use of this. And that’’s why Buddha said the perfect path to achieve the highest level of the spiritual development is very rare for so many people to be able to take the opportunity the opportunity may come to them but they will just lose under their own nose like that just like that. They may think they made the best decision they probably acknowledge that way but doesn’’t matter in reality they have lost the opportunity.5438

Anyway that is how you look and how you see in your life and appreciate and enjoy it but that’’s not permanent it is short I would like to read can I borrow your book I don’’t know how to read properly English but where is it precious human life that’’s why it’’s called precious human life if it just said precious generally it doesn’’t mean anything so the precious human life that little word is telling you whatever we been talking about it and that little words here is the essence of all the different teachers who tell you how you are what your life is you look at it be here now and all this different things are in this little word called precious human life that little word is the base that covers the whole thing. Gained but once. While it’’s not true that we had this life only this time it doesn’’t mean that we had this life a number of times very true however the number of different lives that we’’ve gone in our life after lives life after lives the number of different things that gone. The number of times that we have become dogs that we have become cats that we become snakes and all this type of things if you look as a broader picture it looks like one in blue moon looks like that it happens once. That’’s why it says gained but once so meaning the number of different lives you may have five hundred different lives and you may have them out of that after that you may have one of this life and that looks once if you look in the majority of life’’s that we have it might have come once in five hundred different lives or five thousand different lives or even five million different lives and after that this type of quality life might have come once. That’’s why gained but once has great potential we all know that we don’’t have to tell that. We know that the human achievement is nothing nobody can compete that whether it is spiritually or materially or scientifically or whatever economically or engineering or whatever it is but it is no comparison the human being can achieve. The human life the human capacity it cannot be produced by anybody else. We may like to look at third kind and look at some kind of thing even better than this there is some kind of flying saucer or whatever it is people like to look at them and very excited about it can be good can be bad right? So the human potential I mean there is no question how much great potential we have and it is also true there is great potential but is easily lost if you’’re reading this you have the book with you it is easily lost. So what we want you to do is precious human life and you recognize life appreciate gained but once on that level you have to meditate how it difficult to find from the cause point of view I talked the other day from the example point of view from the nature of the life itself point of view. So I talked the other day remember last Tuesday I talked so meditate all this gained but once on that level has great potential so acknowledge the capacity of human capability spiritual scientific whatever it is where ever you look5946

To every purpose spiritual or scientific or whatever it is and for one purpose to make life easy to have less pain to make it easier right or wrong it is even for destruction the scientists some kind of scientific thing it might have focus for destruction totally right even they do to destroy something which you’’re afraid of destroying your comfort right if you’’re not afraid of enemy who going to destroy you why should you have to have destruction at all even that destruction materials are also produced to gain joy and happiness to make a life a little easier right or wrong if I am wrong tell me it’’s not whether it is spiritual or scientific or whatever it is you’’re focused to make its life easier to have a little more comfort a little more joy in other words to seek happiness that’’s what it is really. Why? Because we want that whether we say it or we don’’t say it what we want is happiness what we don’’t want is suffering and misery. And that’’s why everything is geared spiritual material everything is geared to gain a little bit of happiness a little bit of joy that’’s what we are doing. So the greatest potential to be able to achieve that the human life has it dogs can’’t do it the cats cannot do it the Tigers won’’t be able to do it the Lions will not be able to do it the elephants will not be able to do it the hungry ghosts will not be able to do it the hell realm will not be able to do it they are so suffering all the time and the samsaric gods will not be able to do it because they are enjoying their lives they will not care. I don’’t mean that God doesn’’t care the samsaric gods will not care. So that is the value this life has but that is not permanent it can easily lost so each one of these points you read it each one of these words beyond that you have these points that I’’ve pointed out outlines and then meditate say these words precious human life and then stop and think why is it precious what is the capacity so according to the Lam Rim teachings they will say eight leisures and ten endowments eight leisures are very simple if I’’m an animal today I will not be able to do it if I’’m a hungry ghost I will not be able to do it I have these limitations if I am a hell realm hot and cold hell realm I have these problems these are my limitations and that’’s how you look at it and after little while you will begin to realize how important it is how valuable it is you deeply you will understand how the value of life and the importance and by that time you really begin to embrace your life until then you may say I embrace my life but that you’’re only saying by words or by mind by made up mind by visualization or by this way or by that way you doing it but actually you have not embraced and after a little while you’’re totally convinced and you sort of observe yourself in that and once gain that you’’ll look a little bit different your complexion will change and you look different and you look a little more shiny a little more happier you are not so much under the weather too. And that’’s what it is10443

But on the other hand when you shift it to easily lost at that moment it will reverse everything easily lost you have to think of impermanence you think of dying you think of some sort of what you do you toss yourself high up make happy and bong yourself down that is what you really have to do so that’’s why how you train so easily lost so I’’m not a permanent I’’m going to die my friend died so and so died upstairs died downstairs died neighbor died so all gone if you look at the pictures and you look at them how many of them gone how am I left out it doesn’’t depend on age it doesn’’t depend on the health it doesn’’t depend on wealth nothing it goes boom boom boom boom whatever it is no reason healthy will go wealthy will go the old will leave young will go all of them so when you begin to look that and then we begin to see hey it is not permanent. If you look at today’’s our life what we do we like to talk so and so died so-and-so’’s father died so-and-so’’s mother died so-and-so’’s children died so-and-so died everything is external show showbiz external we are all looking outside but then who’’s going to look there and watch whole everything will go I am the one right if you think about it you may not you say no no I’’m not but how we plan it how we do it I’’m the one who is living all others are going that’’s what we have in our mind if you look very carefully look inside meaning how we perceive things we plan that I’’m going to live everybody’’s going to go so not only this I was told even the antique dealers people who are an antiques so-and-so bought so-and-so so and something and they’’re going to wait they decided to wait right I was told they do that. So then we say oh somebodies brothers very sick brother died that person has this this this this and they’’re watching for that so the plan is you are ultimately going to collect everything what you wanted going to wait two hundred or three hundred years whatever it may take it you may not think it but you act that way you are functioning that way your total dealing with the life is geared towards that way right? So this is our problem and that make us that we lose a sense of urgency in the spiritual path the sense of urgency we lose it because we plan to live three thousand five hundred years we do so that’’s why the sense of urgency is lost the impermanence is not here to frighten us but to overpower our laziness get me? I talked to a woman that I talk to you next week sorry I did not realize is nine twenty already so I’’ll talk to you next week following that in the meanwhile if you like to meditate read this and meditate a little bit and that is important we will introduce later but we will not have an organized manner of how to sit together and do meditate in the traditional Tibetan teaching they will teach you on this point and give you a little piece of book and you go and do your homework and if you wanted that’’s your homework okay that’’s how you do it right? That’’s how you do it and it is very much like school here the school doesn’’t do the homework but you have to do the homework likewise here that’’s how you do it okay thank you and we stopped here and we do have those continual (Rimpoche trails off as he walks away from the microphone)
